Bobby Valentine and Robin Ventura played a part when Octavio Dotel got his first postseason win in 1999. Now Valentine and Ventura will manage against Dotel in his first season with the Tigers. On Oct. 17, 1999, Valentine was managing the Mets in Game 5 of the National League Championship Series against Atlanta. For the top of the 13th inning, he summoned Dotel as his ninth pitcher of the game.
