Found August 15, 2007 on The Red Sox Outsider:
Former Red Sox star, Jose Offerman, was charged with two counts of second degree assault after an incident that happened during Tuesday nights game. After being pitched at, Offerman charged the mound with bat in hand and swung at the pitcher, Matt Beech, breaking his right middle finger. He went to swing again but the catcher was able to spot it. In stopping it, the catcher took a strong hit to the head and is suffering from a concussion. Offerman posted a $10,000 bond and is scheduled in court on the 23rd. This is one of the scariest stories i have heard in a long time. I hope the courts are very stern and set a precedent because this is just unacceptable.
