Found July 15, 2012 on Redlegs Review:
The brooms were out in full force Sunday night at Great American Ball Park and for good reason. The Reds were able to sweep away the rival Redbirds with a thrilling 4-2 victory in front of a nationally televised audience on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. And by doing so, were able to reclaim first place in the NL Central after the Pirates suffered a defeat.

Dusty Baker's future uncertain, despite winning

CINCINNATI For a lame duck, Dusty Baker doesnt waddle when he walks and in fact he walks like a man and talks like a man.His contract expires after this year and despite having his team in first place most of the season, the Cincinnati Reds manager hasnt heard the first peep from the front office about a contract extension.Im getting tired of getting asked that question everywhere...

Extra! Extra! Reds win on Ludwick Homer

Ryan Ludwick hits a walk off against former team! The Cincinnati Reds have remained undefeated since the All-Star break with a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. While it has only been 2 games it looks promising for the Redlegs. They have regained first place in the division while also beating a key and heated rival in  St. Louis. The anticipation was strong heading...

Daily Brief: Cubs out of last place

Last Game The Reds beat the Cardinals last night to sweep the 3-game series in Cincinnati: Reds 4, Cardinals 2. It’s the Reds’ sixth win in a row, and that’s what it took to wrest first place in the NLC back from the Pirates. The Reds are now in sole possession of first place in the division by 1.0 games. Next Game Tonight, the Reds host the Diamondbacks at 7:10 p.m. at Great...

Game 88: Reds 4, Cardinals 2

The brooms were out as the Reds completed the sweep of the Cardinals last night on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball (Presented by Taco Bell). Johnny Cueto would have taken the mound, but was suffering from a blister. How he got a blister over the All-Star Break, I don’t know, but it wasn’t too big a deal since everyone else was rested. Homer Bailey took his place and totally rocked...

Rolen a true pro for surging Reds

This isnt like 2006, when former Cardinals manager Tony La Russa benched third baseman Scott Rolen twice during the playoffs. Back then, Rolen was not happy. He had given himself to the team physically during the regular season, playing 142 games with an ailing shoulder. He then proved his point to La Russa after starting the postseason 1 for 11, batting .351 with a .955 OPS over...

Daily Brief: Votto out 3-4 weeks

Last Game The Diamondbacks weren’t really bad enough to be swept by the Cubs last weekend, so maybe it’s no surprise that they busted out against the Reds last night. They touched Bronson Arroyo for 4 runs in the first inning, and that’s all they needed. With the Diamondbacks’ All-Star Wade Miley on the mound, the Reds’ All-Star Joey Votto out of the line-up, and an ejection...

Bullpen fails Cards over weekend

The Cardinals' three-game sweep by the Reds at Cincinnati had some familiar themes. A former Cardinal beat them. After left fielder Ryan Ludwick hit a 10th-inning homer to win Saturday's game for the Reds, 3-2, third baseman Scott Rolen delivered a two-run, two-out bases-loaded single to win Sunday night for Cincinnati, 4-2. The bullpen failed. In each of the three losses...

Braves, Reds swap minor leaguers

The Reds got right-hander Todd Redmond from Atlanta for shortstop Paul Janish in a swap of minor leaguers on Saturday. Redmond went 6-6 with a 3.58 ERA in 18 starts for Triple-A Gwinnett this season. The 27-year-old pitcher was assigned to Triple-A Louisville. General manager Walt Jocketty said the trade gives the Reds some pitching depth in the minors. The Reds have used only...

Diamondbacks snap Reds' win streak

One bit of news took the Cincinnati Reds from their season high point to a new low - they have to try to hold onto first place without Joey Votto.
