The Lake County Captains suffered a four-game losing streak this past week, but have rebounded over the last three days winning three-straight. The offense still struggles to produce runs, but the batting averages have collectively jumped. The starting rotation stepped things up as only one start was rough this week and the bullpen has done its best to keep the team within games. Smooth Sailing Dylan Baker, SP1 G, 1-0, 8 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 4:1 K:BB Once again, Dylan Baker has put the early season skepticism to rest. Sunday’s win was his fourth in just as many starts. Over those four games, he’s allowed four runs, two of which were earned and his opponent average was just .105. Things seem to have fallen into place for Baker and he’s provided a huge boost to the team’s rotation. Everything has worked for him lately and now he’s pitching like an early-round pick. Jack Wagoner, RHP2 G, 0-0, 3.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2:0 K:BB Jack Wagoner seems to pitch in clusters, as he’ll have a couple bad games ...

A Year Has Not Changed Matsuzaka's Luck

BLADE/ANDY MORRISONA year ago today, we were reporting on another dismal loss by Daisuke Matsuzaka. To add insult to injury, he allowed home runs to two ex-Red Sox players—Brandon Moss and Josh Reddick. Fast forward 365 days and Dice-K is now pitching...

Potential Indians 2013 All-Stars

It's the beginning of July and time for All-Star talk again. The Indians have been pretty good as a team this year (currently first in the AL Central) and have had stand outs among hitters, starters and relief pitchers. With the current state of voting, as usual, the Indians will not have a voted in starter in this years game (the last was Juan Gonzalez in 2001). This means their...

Fireworks are calling. Let's get right to the trots! Home Run of the Day: Jason Kipnis, Cleveland Indians - N/A seconds [video] It's almost unheard of to have an inside-the-park home run and be able to get a reliable time for the trot.
