Season 41 for the Royals.When you work in news, you're constantly bombarded by information, from the Web, television, e-mail, the news wires, directly from sources, from other journalists and, more and more, from your phone/mobile device. It's hard, if not impossible, to unplug, which is why when I write fiction, I pound out first drafts on a 70-year-old manual Underwood typewriter. Heck, I'm married to a journalist -- even my private conversations are filled with news. Last week, I was overseeing a move which stretched over several days and left me largely unplugged for over five days. I have to say -- it was very nice to be out of the loop, if only for a little while. Alas, it was only temporary. Most of what I missed isn't worth catching up on. (Yes, Zack Greinke was the only Royal that deserved to be on the All-Star team.) There was one sequence of events that deserves a word or two: The Royals' banning of doctor/blogger/radio personality Rany Jazayerli.read ...
