John Fay has this very interesting article on how Ryan Hanigan prepares for each game behind the plate:
Ryan Hanigan considers getting the most out of the pitching staff his No. 1 priority as a catcher. Hanigan, 30, was signed by the Reds as non-drafted free agent out of Rollins College. He spent five years in the minors before getting a sniff of the big leagues.
But he’s developed into a guy pitchers love to throw to. His catcher’s ERA last year was 3.36 – more than half a run better than the team’s overall mark of 4.01.
