Manny Machado hit his third homer in four major league games, Nick Markakis also connected, and the Baltimore Orioles got four hitless innings from their bullpen in a 5-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.
Mark Reynolds drove in the tiebreaking run in the sixth inning for the Orioles, who earned a split of the four-game series.
Machado hit a two-run homer in the second off former Orioles pitcher Bruce Chen (8-10). Machado tripled in his debut Thursday night, homered twice in his second game and doubled in a run Saturday night.
With his home run Sunday, the 20-year-old Machado joined Frank Robinson, Ray Knight and Lee May as the only players to get an extra-base hit in each of their first four games with the Orioles.
Mike Moustakas homered for the Royals, who went 4-3 on a road swing against the White Sox and Orioles. Kansas City has 15 home runs over its last eight games.
Baltimore went up 4-3 in the sixth. After Chen issued two straight walks, Reynolds greeted Loui...
BEST OF MAXIM
It will undoubtedly be the number one mission of Dayton Moore to improve the pitching for his Kansas City Royals in the off-season. While history shows that inking a true #1 starter is probably out of Moore’s reach, there has been some hope amongst fans that a steady #2 could be coming along with help from the minors. Today we’ll take a look at the top pitching prospects, and...
The other night I was out at a sports bar with some friends watching the Baltimore Orioles get trounced by the Yankees. As a life time Orioles fan this was nothing new, we have been losing to the Bronx Bombers for as long as I can remember. But there was something different that night.
The usual apathy that accompanies an O’s loss was replaced with anger and discontent. People...
MLB Network is reporting that Baltimore Orioles’ rookie sensation Manny Machado is co-American League Player of the Week for August 6th to the 12th.
Machado, playing in only four games this week — the first four of his career — secured a .375 batting average, a 1.500 OPS, three home runs, a triple, a double, and seven RBIs.
Machado shares the honor with the Red Sox’ Adrian...
Baltimore Orioles rookie third baseman Manny Machado hit the first two home runs of his major league baseball career during Friday night's 7-1 win over the Kansas City Royals. However, the more interesting part of the story is the fan in the stands at Camden Yards who caught both baseballs.

OK, I've yet to hear a sufficient explanation for why Manny Machado started only two games at third base in Double-A before the Baltimore Orioles promoted him to play that position in the majors.
One club official said the team did not want to alarm the major league third basemen, Wilson Betemit and Mark Reynolds (poor babies). Another said the team didn't want to put too...
See why the Royals lefty can't get enough of 'em!
As the 2012 Summer Olympics finally came to an end this weekend, we can now focus back on more important stories.
Such as Kansas City Royals pitcher Bruce Chen crushing on the Dutch women's field hockey team and proclaiming women's field hockey to be his new favorite Olympic sport:

Palace started well at the Madejski, with Aaron Martin heading over from six yards out before Adam Le Fondre wasted a decent chance for the Royals.
Pogrebnyak missed the target and Danny Guthrie had a goalbound shot blocked right before half-time whistle blew.
Pogrebnyak (52) grabbed his first goal in the blue and white hoops when his shot was deflected past the Palace keeper to...
It’s looking like things will be a lot different for Orioles fans in summer of 2012 than what we are used to as fans.
Rather than relaxing at the ballpark and waiting the season to play out, plus focusing on football, I’m now doing more scoreboard watching than ever.
It’s fun to watching some meaningful baseball in these parts.
Instead of being out of contention by now,...
Manny Machado's big debut is national news at this point. The Baltimore Orioles rookie infielder, who was called up Thursday, was named the American League Co-Player of the Week on Monday for a period ending Sunday. He shared the honor with Boston Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez. Through four games, Machado is 6-for-16 with a double, a triple, three homers, seven RBI...
Baltimore Orioles’ top prospect Manny Machado showed us exactly why he’s their top prospect last night, putting on an impressive display of power in just his second major league game with two home runs and four RBIs. OMGDROPEVERYTHINGANDGOPICKHIMUP!!! Well, not exactly. All the ‘perts say that Machado isn’t MLB-ready, as evidenced by his .266/.350/.431 line in the minors...
Third baseman Manny Machado has only been up in the majors for only two games, but he is quickly becoming a face of the franchise.
Yes, again, it has only been two games, and it does not make a career; however, Machado at Oriole Park did something remarkable last night.
He hit two homers – back to – back – a solo shot, followed by a three-run homer, and the Baltimore Orioles...
Alex Gordon hit two of Kansas City's four home runs, Luis Mendoza took a shutout into the seventh inning and the Royals beat the Baltimore Orioles 7-3 Saturday night after the start of the game was delayed by rain for more than three hours.
Salvador Perez and Billy Butler also connected for the Royals, who have 14 homers in their last seven games. Gordon has nine home runs this...
