New York Yankees
BALTIMORE -- Backed by home runs from Mark Reynolds, Lew Ford and J.J. Hardy, the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Yankees 5-4 on Saturday night to once again move into a first-place tie with New York in the American League East. Ford and Hardy both knocked in two runs, and Reynolds homered for the seventh time this season against the Yankees (78-61). The Orioles beat New York starter CC Sabathia (13-5) for the second time this year after the left-hander was 16-2 against them before the 2012 season. The Orioles (78-61) and Yankees are going to meet for the final time this season on Sunday afternoon. New York had a 10-game lead over Baltimore at one point earlier this summer, but the teams now are tied for the third time in less than a week. Joe Saunders (2-1) earned the win. He gave up two runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings. Darren O’Day came on in the sixth and got out of a two-on, one-out jam and struck out three of the five Yankee batters he faced. Pedro Strop gave up a run...

Buck Is Hands Down the AL Manager Of The Year
There were rumors and questions around the sports world when Buck Showalter took the job in Baltimore. Why would he do that?
He had a good job at ESPN, which he had no reason to leave, especially for a team who had not been relevant past opening day since 1997.
If anything, he would have left to coach a team that was close if not...
Orioles right fielder Nick Markakis will be out for at least six weeks with a broken left thumb, the result of being hit by a pitch from New York Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia.
Markakis left Saturday night's 5-4 win over the Yankees in the fifth inning immediately after being struck by the pitch.
The injury will keep him out of the remainder of the regular season and deep...

This weekend, the Baltimore Orioles showed their fans – and the baseball world – that they are in the playoff race to stay for sure. They have played their rivals, the New York Yankees to the limit and showed them the same old script has indeed changed.
After being beaten down by them for so long, the Orioles were looking to take the long, four-game series from the Yankees on...
We’ve reached Threat Level Midnight. With last night’s victory over the Yankees, the Orioles are now tied with New York American League East lead. Whatever one makes of the Orioles’ chances, this is surprising for pretty much anyone who made a serious attempt at being objective prior to the season. When is the last time a team coming off of a sub-70-win season that got their...
The Orioles continued their long-ball onslaught against the Yankees, hitting three home runs off CC Sabathia in a 5-4 victory Saturday night that moved Baltimore back into a tie atop the AL East with New York.
Mark Reynolds, Lew Ford and J.J. Hardy homered for the Orioles, who have won 11 of 15 overall and nine of the last 13 against the Yankees. With a victory Sunday, Baltimore...
BALTIMORE -- One night after the Orioles used power to subdue the Yankees, it was New York's turn to show off with their bats. The Yankees hit two home runs in a five-run fourth inning, and blasted another in the fifth to chase Orioles lefty Wei-Yin Chen. New York held on for an 8-5 win behind a solid outing from Phil Hughes. The win put the Yankees (78-60) back into sole...
New York Yankees 4 — Baltimore Orioles 5
A controversial call ends a big night in a 5-4 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.
CC Sabathia struggled in tonight’s game as he gave up 5 runs on 8 hits, including 3 home runs. In the 2nd inning, the man that has hurt the Yankees all season, Mark Reynolds, got to the Yankees ace. For Reynolds, this was his 7th home run against the Yankees...
BALTIMORE -- The Baltimore Orioles wasted a five-run lead late in Thursday's series opener against the Yankees, and these are the kind of games Baltimore has lost for many years. But this is a different year. Adam Jones hit a tie-breaking homer to start the eighth, and Mark Reynolds and Chris Davis homered later in the inning as the Orioles rallied for a 10-6 victory over...
