The Baltimore Orioles activated outfielder Endy Chavez from the disabled list on Monday. He had been out since May 9 with a strained left oblique. Chavez has struggled this season. After hitting .301 in 83 games for Texas last season, he is batting just .133 in 20 games for the Orioles this year. Chavez played in three rehab games with Double-A Bowie, going 3-for-10 with two walks. The Orioles also selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Miguel Gonzalez, who was 2-1 with a 1.50 earned-run average for Triple-A Norfolk. Right-handed pitcher Tommy Hunter and outfielder Xavier Avery were optioned to Norfolk.
