The Orioles claimed right-handed pitcher Ashton Goudeau on waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday. They also outrighted catcher Austin Wynns to Triple-A Norfolk.

Goudeau, who is 28, had a 7.56 ERA in four games with the Colorado Rockies in 2020 and was claimed on waivers by Pittsburgh from the Rockies on November 25.

Wynns, who was the Orioles’ 10th round draft pick in 2013, hit .239 with five home runs and 16 RBIs in 70 games in 2018 and 2019. He was never put on the club’s active roster in 2020, and was assigned to the alternate site at Bowie. Wynns was part of the taxi squad on several road trips.

The Orioles have 38 players on the 40-man roster. Just two, Pedro Severino and Chance Sisco are catchers. The team is expected to sign at least one veteran catcher over the winter.

Last week, the Orioles signed right-handed pitcher Conner Greene to a minor league contract. The 25-year-old is 39-45 with a 4.22 ERA in 172 games in the Toronto, St. Louis and Kansas City organizations.
