The Baltimore Orioles are close to signing free agent left-hander Randy Wolf, who was released by the Milwaukee Brewers last week. Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Wolf was expected to arrive in Baltimore on Wednesday and there's a chance he could be activated before Thursday's game against the Chicago White Sox. Wolf was cut loose by the Brewers after going 3-10 with a 5.69 ERA. Showalter said, ''He had options, and this is where he chose to come. I think he's capable of doing some good things for us.'' Wolf won only one of his last 19 starts, but Showalter said, ''Randy is a starter initially, and it's also an option for him to pitch in relief.'' The Orioles have only one left-hander in the bullpen, converted starter Brian Matusz.

Orioles Sign Randy Wolf

The Baltimore Orioles apparently have signed free-agent lefty and recent Brewer Randy Wolf.  It didn't take long for Wolf to find a new team.  Wolf will be pitching in the AL for the first time, although as of now it's unclear if he's joined Baltimore to fortify a young rotation or to help from the bullpen.  The Orioles were among the suspected suitors for Wolf in...

Revolving door has O's still in hunt

Center fielder Adam Jones was professing ignorance about the makeup of the Baltimore Orioles' ever-changing pitching staff, saying, "I don't even know what our five-man rotation is." First baseman Chris Davis, standing a few lockers away, smiled and agreed. "We have, like, a nine-man rotation," Davis said. A nine-man rotation, a 35-man roster, the fourth...

Saunders Loses in Oriole Debut; Dylan Bundy will not be called up this season...

It was ugly last night for the Orioles, as they lost 8-1, last night at Camden Yards. They could not take advantage of a Yankees’ loss in New York; however, they still lead the Wild Card hunt along with Oakland. Virginia native Joe Saunders who was making his first start as an Oriole just was not effective on Wednesday. Saunders pretty much doomed the Orioles as he gave up four...

McLouth's 2-Run Shot Late Propels Orioles; Where are the fans?

The Orioles on Monday night earned their 70th win of the season – quite an amazing accomplishment based on what many predicted in the winter. They beat a tough, gritty Chicago team that is leading American League Central and have won their third game in a row. Two role players – Nate McLouth and Lew Ford came up huge on the night. Considering both guys were in baseball wilderness...

Saunders trade will push Baltimore Orioles into play-offs

For the first time in this whole season I, as a Baltimore Orioles fan, have hope. Despite this being one of the most successful seasons in a long time for Baltimore there has always been this aura of doubt for me. I am always a pessimist when it comes to the ball club, so even with everything going great it was hard to see a bright future. Things hit their breaking...

Yo is my bro

Well it kind of looks like this is going to be Brewers Appreciation Week because I am all about the love right now. These guys deserve it. Aramis Ramirez has been killing the baseball lately and that deserves kudos. I could write twenty five hundred words about Ryan Braun anytime, any place. I could do it every single day if I wanted to. He's that good, but you know who never...

Zach Britton dominates White Sox, is then demoted

Zach Britton of the Orioles had one of the best starts of his young career on Thursday against the White Sox. In eight innings, Britton allowed one run on seven hits, and struck out ten batters without walking one. For Britton, who has only made eight starts in the majors this season while battling injuries and ineffectiveness, the start was a step in the right direction...

Marcum, Brewers look to sweep Chicago

The Milwaukee Brewers have come to expect significant offensive production from Ryan Braun against the Chicago Cubs. Norichika Aoki's production has been even more impressive. Braun and Aoki look to continue pounding on Cubs pitching as the Brewers attempt to sweep this four-game set and extend their longest winning streak in the all-time series Thursday. Braun is a career...

Top Play: Brewers hit back-to-back-back home runs in ninth

The Milwaukee Brewers proved to be spoilers for Cubs fans at Wrigley filed on Monday night, as Ryan Braun, Aramis Ramirez and Corey Hart hit three consecutive home runs in the ninth inning. The Cubs entered the ninth with a two run lead, only to finish the game on the short end of a 15 to 4 romp. The nine-run ninth inning began with a there-run blast off the bat of reigning NL MVP...

Brewers aim for 8th straight victory over Cubs

The Milwaukee Brewers' surge has been aided by a pair of series against the lowly Chicago Cubs, and now an unexpected offensive source. Jeff Bianchi and the Brewers look to continue capitalizing on one of baseball's worst teams and extend their longest winning streak in the all-time series Wednesday night at Wrigley Field. Milwaukee (61-67) has won seven of eight, with...

Marcum on waivers - let the chess match begin

The Milwaukee Brewers placed right-hander Shaun Marcum on trade waivers Tuesday, thinking strategically as the deadline for setting postseason rosters looms at midnight Friday ET. Marcum’s next start, Thursday afternoon at Wrigley Field against the Chicago Cubs, will take place shortly after his waiver period expires that day at 1 p.m. ET. He has pitched only once since missing...

Brewers 3, Cubs 1

Mike Fiers tossed 7 1-3 solid innings to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a 3-1 win over the Cubs on Wednesday night, their eighth straight victory against Chicago. Fiers (8-6) held the Cubs to four hits and struck out six, helping Milwaukee beat its division rival for the 13th time in 16 games this season. The Brewers have won eight of their last nine overall and moved within five...

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Milwaukee Brewers – Game 131

If you missed Mellie’s recap of the season series clinching win against the Cardinals you suck. First Pitch:  8:10 PM EST Where To Watch:  Root Sports, MLB.TV, FSWI   Mark Rogers, RHP (26) This freaking guy again? He freaking faced the Pirates last time out.
