Dylan Bundy‘s Orioles debut for the Delmarva Shorebirds versus the Asheville Tourists, a Rockies affiliate, marked the start of a fourth season scouting prospects in the South Atlantic League. In previous years, highly ranked pitching prospects have come and gone, bringing with them reportedly un...

Dylan Bundy: Too Good For A-Ball

Last week, I missed out on Dylan Bundy’s pro debut, as I just couldn’t make the two hour drive to Asheville work with my schedule. But, tonight, Bundy was even closer, pitching just over an hour away in Kannapolis, and I wasn’t going to miss him twice in a span of six days. So, I jumped down I-85 and took in a game with the other 100 or so people who decided to brave the...

Vladimir Guerrero Turns Himself In After Fighting With Police at Dominican Disco

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic -- Former major leaguer Vladimir Guerrero says he has turned himself over to police in the Dominican Republic after reportedly being involved in a scuffle with a police officer in a disco. In a phone interview with The Associated Press, Guerrero denied he was involved in any attack. A spokesman for the police in the Dominican Republic, Maximo Baez...

Robert Andino’s face perfectly sums up what it’s like playing for the Orioles

I’m guessing next year’s picture will feature Andino in the fetal position, sobbing uncontrollably. If you thought being a fan of the Orioles was a tough gig, just look what happens when you actually play for them.  Notice how the joy gets sucked out of O’s second baseman Robert Andino’s face with each passing year?  It’s like one of those “before and after” shots...

Wei-Yin Chen's First Start For The O's

I didn't get a chance to see Wei-Yin Chen make his Major League debut yesterday - I got home for the bottom of the 9th, so at least I was treated to the extra-innings loss - but I've heard some complementary things about it. Chen's line on the night: 5.2 IP, 7 H, 4 R (2 ER - thanks Mark Reynolds), 1 BB, 6 K, 1 HR (to Derek Jeter, leading off the game). The strike-out...

Andino says he wasn't tipping pitches vs Yankees

Orioles second baseman Robert Andino says he wasn't tipping the location of pitches in Baltimore's game against the New York Yankees on Monday night. Andino and New York catcher Russell Martin had an angry exchange after the Yankees' 6-2 win. Andino hit a leadoff double off Mariano Rivera in the ninth inning and did not advance. Andino said Tuesday that Martin accused...

Baltimore Orioles fan pays big price for brief fame

It took a while, but the cops finally dropped the hammer on him.

Enjoy the sweep, enjoy it!

The Orioles swept the Twins and emotions are running high. They swept the Twins by way of three fantastic starting pitching performances: 22IP/ 3R/ 1ER/ 10H/ 12K/ 6BB. For a team that many national writers expect to lose 100 games and have one of the worst pitching staffs in recent baseball history - that is a very good start. Yet, the refrain I am hearing from too many people is...

There is Hope for the O’s

If you would have told me that the Baltimore Orioles would sweep the Minnesota Twins in their opening series and their starting pitchers would throw 22 innings and only allow 1 run, I would have told you to put down the case of Natty Boh. Starting pitching is the biggest concern for the Orioles this year as they had seemingly downgraded the position after trading away Jeremy Guthrie...

Game 6: Orioles 4, Yankees 6

The O's lost game one of this series handily, game two in - not quite heart-breaking - but hard to take fashion, and have to deal with CC Sabathia in game three. The Good: Things did not get off to a particularly auspicious start for Jake Arrieta, as he gave up a two-run homer to the second batter of the game. He settled down after that though, and looked mighty impressive...

Orioles sign Joel Pineiro to a Minor League deal

The Baltimore Orioles have decided to add more pitching depth by signing right handed pitcher Joel Pineiro to a Minor League deal according to Rich Dubroff of NBCSports. Pineiro was released by the Phillies back in March. The veteran right hander was 7-7 with a 5.13 ERA, 3.8 SO/9, 2.3 BB/9, 1.0 HR/9 and 50 GB% in 145.2 innings last season with the Angels.
