The Baltimore Orioles finished up their long ten-game road trip as they defeated the Los Angeles Angels, 3-2, in ten innings on Sunday afternoon. They finished up their road trip with a 6-4 record – a good thing – considering how recent history has gone. Right now, the Orioles have a 9-7 record, and we all should enjoy it. The young players – especially Adam Jones and Matt Wieters have developed into possibly All-Stars and definite pillars this early season. I’ve seen Jones play with a greater focus than ever, and also like the fact he is using his athleticism to be more aggressive on the basepaths. Nick Markakis – who had been struggling  as of late – came through with two clutch hits, one in the eighth inning to tie the game at two, and the other to decide the game in tenth. Of course, he could have been ejected – if not for Buck Showalter stepping in to protect him with grievances over ball/strike calls. The calls have been terrible this series, and I’m surprised the issue had...

Report: Dontrelle Willis Walks Out on Orioles' Minor League Team

Dontrelle Willis has gone AWOL. The Orioles pitcher left Baltimore's Triple-A Norfolk team without permission, Orioles Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations Dan Duquette said Monday, according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. "He just left," Duquette said. Willis and the team disagreed about how Willis should be used -- the Orioles want him as a reliever, but...

Report: Agent for Dontrelle Willis Says Orioles Are Holding Pitcher 'Hostage'

Dontrelle Willis wants the baseball world to know he didn’t abandon his team. If anything, he and his agent are now saying that team is holding him "hostage." A day after reports surfaced that Willis had abruptly left Baltimore's Triple-A team without permission, Willis and his agent have fired back at the Orioles for putting the pitcher on the restricted list. Willis...

Nick Johnson Projected To Go 0-For-233 In 2012 After 0-For-23 Start!

Still holding Nick Johnson in your A.L. fantasy league? We have bad news for you fantasy dorks. According to ESPN’s MLB projectors, the Orioles DH, who is off to a hot 0-for-23 start, will go an entire year without getting a hit. Of course it’s crazy, but then again Johnson is well into April without slapping one through the infield. Who has the worst batting average in MLB...

(AP) -- Nick Markakis hit a two-run single in the eighth inning and a run-scoring single in the 10th, leading the Baltimore Orioles to a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. A once promising arm is now just trying to find a place on a team. Dontrelle Willis, who won the 2003 Rookie of the Year award with the Florida Marlins has seen his career take a turn for the worse since then. Dontrelle Walks

A strange little item from Jon Heyman. The Orioles gave no official reason Sunday for why he was placed on the restricted list, but Duquette to CBSSports.com confirmed Willis left the team without permission following a difference of opinion about whether he should start or reliever. "He just left,'' said Duquette when confronted with the information from other sources...

What An Odd Game

I have seen my fair share of memorable baseball games at the ballpark. In Baltimore I saw Lee Mazzilli throw bubblegum out onto the field after a Chris Gomez foul ball was correctly called a foul ball instead of a home run. I saw Nick Markakis hit three home runs in one game. I’ve seen Chris Capuano pitch an incredible game, one of the best pitched games of the 2011 season. I...
