Righthander Tommy Hunter will make his first start for the Baltimore Orioles on Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Hunter was acquired in a trade deadline deal for Orioles reliever Koji Uehara.
The 25-year-old Hunter was expected to compete for a starting job with Texas but suffered a groin injury near the end of spring training and wound up in the bullpen.
He has recorded a 1-1 mark with a 3.31 ERA in nine appearances this season.
Hunter made 23 appearances (22) starts for the Rangers in 2010 and went 13-4 with a 3.73 ERA.
