The Orioles picked up just where they left off. After a four-day All-Star break, the Orioles used excellent pitching from Wei-Yin Chen to lead them past the Texas Rangers 3-1 on Friday night at the Ballpark in Arlington. Chen in his second start since returning from nearly a two-month absence with a strained left oblique, allowed a run on eight hits in seven innings to get the win. Matt Wieters gave the Orioles a 1-0 lead with his 13th home run off Derek Holland (8-5) in the top of the second. In the third, the Orioles (54-43) scored again when Brian Roberts walked and Nate McLouth doubled to drive in Roberts. Texas (54-42) scored its run in the fourth. Jeff Baker singled. Mitch Moreland walked, and Baker stole third when Manny Machado didn’t pay attention to the base runner after the walk. Craig Gentry’s sacrifice fly scored Baker. The inning could have been much worse, but Nick Markakis jumped high enough to rob Adrian Beltre of a home run. The ball was heading over the wall, but Markakis snared it.
