Nate McLouth played well down the stretch for the Baltimore Orioles last season as the team made its first playoff appearance in over a decade. The Orioles have decided to bring back the veteran outfielder on a one year deal worth $2 million. McLouth hit .268/.342/.435 in 55 games for the Orioles last season. He also hit seven home runs, stole 12 bases and drove in 18. “I think Nate liked Baltimore, he played very well there, and we liked him in Baltimore,” executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette said Tuesday night. “He did a good job for us when he came up … there’s a natural interest in re-signing him to the team.” With the Orioles last season McLouth primarily played in left field and made a few appearances in center. The Orioles managed to stay away from offering multiple years to McLouth and the salary is small enough that if he were to struggle the team could simply release him at mid-season. Ideally he will split time with Nolan Reimold.
