Orioles release RHP Duchscherer

The Baltimore Orioles officially cut bait with righthander Justin Duchscherer on Tuesday. Facing another hip surgery, Duchscherer was released by the American League East team. He did not make a start for the Orioles this season after signing a one-year, $700,000 contract in the offseason. The 33-year-old South Dakota native made only five starts with the Oakland Athletics in 2010 before undergoing season-ending surgery. Duchscherer missed the entire 2009 season with shoulder and back injuries.
