Found January 09, 2013 on MLB Injury News:
It was reported yesterday that the Baltimore Orioles made a run at Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Justin Upton in an effort to add the impact bat they’ve been seeking throughout the offseason. Talks appear to have fallen through, and the Orioles have once again turned their attention to starting pitching and their top target Joe Saunders, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. The Orioles were one of the teams that pursued Upton, showing strong interest a few weeks back. Those talks sputtered, however, and the team currently appears more focused on adding a starting pitcher. Saunders remains a target, according to sources; the Orioles checked in on Porcello, but couldn’t find a match. The Orioles projected rotation for the 2013 season goes something like this; Jason Hammel, Wei-Yin Chen, Chris Tillman, Miguel Gonzalez, in-house candidate or Saunders. At this point, Baltimore does have several arms on roster that could slide into the No. 5 starter role, including Zach Britton, Steve Johnson, Jake Arrieta, Brian Matusz and Tommy Hunter. However, Baltimore appears at least somewhat inclined to add another veteran to their mix of starters. Baltimore Orioles Top 15 Prospects (2012-13)

The Orioles list is strong at the top but begins to taper off quickly after the Top 4 players. The system boasts a fair bit of up-the-middle position talent (especially in the outfield) and strong pitching. There were another three or four prospects that could have easily slide into the 11-15 range and just narrowly missed the list.   #1 Dylan Bundy (P) Age G GS IP K/9 BB/9...

Can the Combo of Danny Valencia and Wilson Betemit Be the Answer at DH for the Baltimore Orioles?

The Baltimore Orioles and Executive VP/GM Dan Duquette have been the recipients of a lot of criticism from fans and the media, including myself, this offseason due to their inability to add the big bat in the middle of the order that Baltimore desperately needs. With the calendar turning over to 2013, and pitchers and catchers reporting in just over a month, it is safe to assume...

Cubs, Orioles, Tigers Discussing Three-Team Deal Involving J.J. Hardy Among Others

The Baltimore Orioles are not necessarily done this offseason.  If the right deal came around, the Orioles could pull the trigger on a blockbuster.  Whether the latest rumors surrounding the team amounts to a blockbuster or not is up for interpretation, but the Orioles are discussing a possible three-team trade. Roch Kubatko of MASN says he was told on Monday that the trade...

The Orioles Should Look at Michael Morse

The Baltimore Orioles have had a hard time -- at a glance -- landing an impact bat on both the free agent and trade market. Spring training is just around the corner for the Birds, and as the weeks go by, fans are wondering: "When will we finally get a middle-of-the-order guy?" "What is this team doing? Why have we not gotten anyone yet?" With...

White Sox and Red Sox Scouting Javier Vazquez

A Bad Taste In My Mouth

Contrary to the ideas put out there by Ken Rosenthal, I did have an issue with the way things went down yesterday. In my eyes, anyone who did not have an issue with the shutout yesterday is blissfully ignorant. Rosenthal will not even catch wind of what I say though – I am a non-voter, someone who has an unimportant opinion anyway. But there were a few things that I really wanted...

Padres Rumors: Significant Move On the Horizon?

One rival executive says there is no chance that general manager Josh Byrnes completes his off-season with the addition of free-agent right-hander...

By Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi FOXSports.com Justin Upton is still a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks, but not for a lack of effort by the D-Backs in trying to move him. The Diamondbacks were in agreement on a trade that would have sent Upton to the Seattle Mariners, but the two-time All-Star rejected the proposed deal, major-league sources say. The Mariners are one of...
