Wei-Yin Chen took a positive step towards returning to the Baltimore Orioles' rotation on Thursday when he pitched in a simulated game. Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports says that Chen threw all of his offerings in the 42-pitch game, 27 of them for strikes. Rehab coordinator Scott McGregor was pleased with Chen's performance: "He looks good," said Scott McGregor, the Orioles' pitching rehab coordinator. "It was a good test for him today. He threw all of them and looked pretty comfortable." The 27-year-old lefty has been on the DL since the second week of May with an oblique strain. Kubatko reports that Chen will throw another bullpen session Saturday, then a four-inning simulated game Monday, before a rehab outing. Highly-rated pitching prospect Kevin Gausman made the majority of the starts in Chen's absence, but was recently sent back to Triple-A Norfolk after struggling to a 7.66 ERA in his first big-league stint. Both Jake Arrieta and Zach Britton have made spot-starts for the Orioles in recent days with Miguel Gonzalez on the paternity list. If Chen can make a rehab start early next week, he might be able to start during Baltimore's weekend series against the New York Yankees. Follow @mlbinjurynews Looking for fantasy baseball advice?

Major League Baseball and their umpires are being skewered this season for a bunch of botched calls and last night they actually got the call right, after home plate umpire Angel Hernandez initially made the incorrect call. Fans recognize the Baltimore Orioles in MLB All-Star Game voting

Before the 2012 season it was rare for a Baltimore Oriole to be voted into the MLB All-Star Game via fan voting. In fact before last season, the last time an O’s player was selected by fan ballot was 2005, when two Orioles, Brian Roberts and Miguel Tejada, were selected as starters. That was also the last All-Star Game in which the Orioles had multiple all-stars until last season...

Baltimore Orioles misspell Matt Wieters name on plaque

Most of the time, I would expect that professional sports teams would be able to know how to spell current players names but there are times when mistakes can be made. Check out the below plaque that the Baltimore Orioles did for catcher Matt Wieters after he hit a home run onto Eutaw Street: Remember folks, "I before E except after C". (Courtesy of Gamedayr)

Buck Showalter tosses umpires out of game

Orioles manager Buck Showalter was upset about a call in Friday nights game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Rather then sit idle in the dugout Showalter hit the field and argued with umpires. The Orioles are flying high and in control of their destiny

The Baltimore Orioles have been on quite a run this week, taking two of three from the Detroit Tigers and before that, taking three of four from the rival Boston Red Sox. In the offseason, a lot of experts doubted that the Orioles could repeat what they did in 2012 this season. So far, they have proven the naysayers wrong. As of this morning, 73 games into the 2013 season...
