PLAYERS: Adam Jones
TEAMS: Baltimore Orioles
Adam Jones of the Baltimore Orioles smashed a line drive home run during the O’s 6-0 win over the Twins on Sunday, but upon further review it wasn’t that normal. The home run barely cleared the outfield fence yet somehow it ended up hitting a railing right at the wall and landed in the upper deck. Not sure how one would measure that one, but it made for good TV. [MLB] Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

Adam Jones hit a 339 foot upper deck home run

Physics and probability put together are really cool. What are the chances we will ever see a hit ball smack guard rail at just the right speed and angle where it will bounce way up into the air about 20-25 feet then land in the second deck? Probably pretty slim. But that’s exactly what happened with an Adam Jones home run at Target Field when the Baltimore Orioles took on the...

Chicks Dig the Long Ball: Baltimore Orioles Adam Jones and the Lowest Upper Decker in History

It may seem kind of odd to say that a home run that landed in the upper deck is low, but this dinger that Adam Jones blasted for the Orioles in a 6-0 win Sunday was just that. It just so happened to get one heck of a fortuitous bounce to give the lift it needed at the last second to make the upper deck! Watch and you'll see what I mean! Orioles win, but lose Wei-Yin Chen to injury

Baltimore Orioles left-hander Wei-Yin Chen left today's game after the fifth scoreless due to a right oblique strain.  The Orioles won the game, 6-0, but the team may have lost their best starting pitcher. As reported by Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com, "Chen walked off the mound, grabbing his side following Eduardo Escobar's groundout to end the fifth. Oblique...

Orioles option RHP Steve Johnson to Triple-A

The Baltimore Orioles have optioned right-hander Steve Johnson to Triple-A Norfolk after he started Saturday's game against the Twins. Johnson allowed seven hits and six earned runs, while striking out three in four innings in his first start of the season. He walked four. Johnson, who was 4-0 with a 2.11 ERA in 12 games (four starts) for Baltimore last season, hoped to make...

Baltimore Recalled LHP Michael Belfiore from Triple A

The Baltimore Orioles have recalled left-handed pitcher Michael Belfiore from Triple-A Norfolk to take the place of Steve Johnson. Belfiore’s stay may be quick if he pitches like he did in Norfolk. He was throwing a 5.52 ERA over 14 innings of work. But he also struck out 17 over those 14 innings and will be used in middle relief. As a lefty, he may be brought in to work one batter...

Baltimore Orioles Recall Pitcher Steve Johnson, Other Notes

The Baltimore Orioles have recalled right-handed pitcher Steve Johnson from their Triple-A Norfolk minor league affiliate. He will serve as the Oriole’s fifth starter as Miguel Gonzalez is on the disabled list. In other moves the organization had optioned right-handed pitcher Alex Burnett to the same farm club to make room for Johnson on the active roster. After the game though...

Orioles' Wei-Yin Chen heading to DL

The move was expected, but it became all but official yesterday afternoon.  The Baltimore Orioles are expected to place Wei-Yin Chen on the 15-day DL.  He suffered a right oblique strain in his start on Sunday.  The injury proved to be severe enough that Chen will have to miss some time to allow it to heal. According to Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com, the Orioles are expected...

Twins square off with raw Baltimore starting pitcher

Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter has had to shuffle his starting rotation on a regular basis over the past two seasons, but that hasn't stopped his club from being successful. Steve Johnson becomes the latest to make a start for Baltimore as he faces the host Minnesota Twins on Saturday night. The Orioles made the playoffs in 2012 using 12 different starting pitchers...

Man with no arms throws first pitch at Orioles game with foot (Video)

Back on Thursday night, the Baltimore Orioles invited a very special fan to throw out the first pitch by the name of Tom Willis. Willis was born with no arms and made an appearance at Camden Yards on behalf of his "Pitch For Awareness" tour to show that people with disabilities can do anything. Watch as Willis fires a strike with video courtesy of the Baltimore Sun...

On Dealing with Success

The Baltimore Orioles are successful. They are a successful baseball team. They are winning consistently, honestly, and they are doing it with ease. I sit here on a beautiful overcast Baltimore morning and the Orioles are currently tied with the Boston Red Sox with the best record in the American League. How do I process this? How does a long suffering Orioles fan...

On my visit to the Baltimore Sports Hall of Fame today, I got to see some all-time Orioles fantasy baseball stats.  Take a look. Baltimore Orioles all-time leaders.

Manny Machado Must See Heads Up Defensive Gem

The Baltimore Orioles always knew Manny Machado was special but not sure if they realized he was going to be this poised for a 20-year old. Machado makes a ridiculous heads up defensive play to bail his team out of a dangerous inning against the Tampa Bay Rays. Again this guy is 20-years old and mature beyond his years. The post Manny Machado Must See Heads Up Defensive Gem...

Resiliency and the DH Spot...

Last night’s game looked lost for the Orioles. I was listening to the game on my way to western Pennsylvania and it seemed liked they were headed to a loss against the Minnesota Twins. Jason Hammel – who started the game – was off; the Orioles were mired in a six-run deficit and shutout in the first six innings, plus the offense seemed to be non-existent. However, business...

Padres-Orioles Preview

The Baltimore Orioles continue to play well, even though their fragile starting rotation may have taken another hit. They'll look to Chris Tillman to give them a much-needed strong start when they host the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night. Baltimore (23-15) has won six of eight and looks forward to an eight-game homestand - the first two coming versus the Padres - after playing...
