Cardinals making the most of their base runners

After watching the Yankees most of the season (nearly every game), it was eye-opening watching the St. Louis Cardinals dismantle the Reds yesterday in the Reds' backyard. And what had me drooling with envy was the approach the Cardinals had with runners on base. As I have written this week for It's About the Money, Stupid, the Yankees are so pull happy that they often fail...

The Cardinals Bullpen Partakes In a “Trust Fall” With Rookie Kevin Siegrist

The St. Louis Cardinals’ bullpen participated in some very important team building exercises on Friday night before their game with the Cardinals in the form of a ‘trust fall.’ Kevin Siegrist was the man who had the unfortunate job of falling backwards without looking, but it seems that everything worked out. The Cardinals had just called up the rookie left-handed reliever...

St. Louis Cardinals: Trevor Rosenthal has not allowed a run since April 24

After a shaky start to the season, all St. Louis Cardinals fans are aware that 23-year old reliever Trevor Rosenthal has settled down and become a lock-down eighth inning reliever. But are Cardinals fans aware of just how dominant Rosenthal has been? Rosenthal has not allowed a single earned run since April 24 and has pitched an amazing stretch of baseball and is a big reason why...

Cardinals rumors: Could David Freese become available?

David Freese has been the St. Louis Cardinals regular third baseman over the past several seasons. In that role, he’s developed into a postseason hero and National League All-Star. However, the emergence of Matt Carpenter and presence of top prospect Kolten Wong could have the Cardinals making Freese available, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. After hitting...

The Cardinals Are The Symphony

The 2013 St. Louis Cardinals are the symphony: respected, beautiful and only enjoyed by a very devout base.  And just like the symphony, you're not convincing anyone to get on board. They're going to have to make that choice on their own terms. I bring this up because the Cardinals are an excellent team. Maybe one of the best teams we've seen in the past 20...

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Reds: Heated rivalry turns to Cincy

Now a full seven days into June, it is hard to believe that one would consider a three-game set a “big series” so early in the season, but that is exactly what the St. Louis Cardinals are facing as they travel to Cincinnati for the first time this season. The Cardinals, who have the league’s best record at 39-21, lead the Reds by just three games in the National League Central...

A recent timeline of the heated Reds-Cardinals rivalry

Get your popcorn ready, folks. The Redlegs and Redbirds hook up for another 3-game set this weekend at Great American Ball Park and thus, renew arguably the most intense modern day rivalry in all of Major League Baseball. While it may be well known around the league that these two clubs don't like one another, it's often unclear to outsiders as to just why that is. If you...

The Major League Baseball draft continues on Friday with Rounds 3-10. The Cardinals will have just 1 pick in each of the rounds today. I  will try to keep this post updated when the picks are made. If I can’t get to all of them, I will update it tonight for sure. In the meantime, here are the slot bonuses to keep our eyes on. The Cards believe that have to stay economical today...
