Oscar Taveras is a 19 year old prospect for the St. Louis Cardinals who despite having some injuries during his stints on the farm has posted some impressive numbers. Last year in the Midwest League he has a slash line of .386/.444/.584. That is no joke for a young kid in A-Ball. Taveras is also considered one of the Cardinals top positional prospects. Apparently somebody forgot to inform the Fox Sports Midwest broadcast crew. Seen here below wearing the typical high #91 that is so often worn by Spring Training Prospects, the broadcast crew decides Taveras needs a better name that is more widely know across America.
Introducing “Minor League Guy.” Pinch runner extraordinare!!!
I love when random occurrences of laughter bust out during a baseball game. This reminds me of a first base umpire many years ago in my teen years responding to a check swing appeal. The home plate umpire yelled down “Did he go?” The response after a quick glance at the runner on first. “No, he’s still there.” Now if I could only remember if I was shaking my head or laughing at the time. Anyways, hope you enjoyed the photo.
