Most Americans would agree that baseball before the Marvin Miller days was unfair to players. Now, when those negotiated rights have been earned and a free agent tries to take advantage of those rights, he is scorned. The negative press that Roy Oswalt is receiving these days is a case in point.
Take this guy's point of view for example. According to this writer in question, Oswalt has a "fat head." Well, gosh. Oswalt must be a villain then. Excuse him for pitching for eleven years and earning the right to pick and choose where he will play and how much he wants to get paid. At least this writer in question admits that Roy Oswalt is worth the $10 million he is supposedly asking, "i...

Report: Red Sox Still Have a 'Great Chance' to Sign Roy Oswalt

Ben Cherington Rates Odds of Landing Another Starting Pitcher as 'Unlikely'
WORCESTER -- Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington hasn't met personally with free-agent pitcher Roy Oswalt. But as each day passes along, the likelihood of landing the 34-year-old decreases. It is officially February when baseball news is reduced to vague rumors about teams from which Roy Oswalt and Edwin Jackson may or may not be considering one-year offers. Well, that and that Mark Teixeira saying he might bunt to beat the shift this season. Hoo boy.
There is something of interest in the Teixeira report, though. Sure, we do not know whether he is actually going to...
