Found February 07, 2012 on Nationals Enquirer: Yardbarker Blogger Network
Looks like for at least one of the so called "Take Back the Park" games, Nationals fans really will need to take back the park; because the Washington Nationals have already given part of it away, blocking off sweet seats in the lower outfield section for the Phillies Nation "Phil Up DC" event on May 5. (Image via @JWerthsBeard). Plenty of good seats up in the 400 level...just sayin' Here's Nats COO Andy Feffer talking about the Take Back The Park campaign on Monday morning on WUSA 9; he forgot to mention Phil Up DC: Befriend the Nats Enquirer on Facebook. Harper hopes to emulate Namath

Bryce Harper wants everyone to know that he won't be all business during his career, going as far as name-checking the legendary Jets QB as someone he'd like to be like.

How Rick Ankiel Affects Bryce Harper and Others

The Washington Nationals signed OF Rick Ankiel to a minor-league contract on Monday, and he will likely make the team either as a fourth outfielder or as part of a platoon in center field.  The ultimate decision for Ankiel's role may tell us exactly what the Nats expect from Bryce Harper. The Nats have signed a bevy of veteran utility type players this offseason, including...

You may say I'm a dreamer: Washington Nationals

What else can baseball fans do in January but dream of October? In You May Say I'm a Dreamer, the Outside Corner staff will imagine the route to a World Series in 2012 title for all 30 teams. To think, the season started with people dreaming about how the Nationals could have been real contenders if only they hadn't been outbid for Prince Fielder by the Tigers. That all...

FanGraphs Audio: Dave Cameron Answers Questions

Episode 136 The Washington Nationals recently signed Edwin Jackson to a one-year, $11 million deal. Does the addition of Jackson make the Nats a contender? How would the definition of “contender” change if a second wild-card playoff spot were installed? Also, the Baltimore and Colorado trade: what’s the deal with that? Managing editor Dave Cameron answers all these...

#44: Is Mike Morse a legit top 10 outfielder?

Michael Morse is one of the few players hyped over the last few years who actually has panned out. Jason Heyward must be very jealous. Morse was a big sleeper heading into last year, and rightfully so. He finished 2010 with 15 home runs, 41 RBI and a .289 batting average in 266 at bats. Even though he struggled out of the gate early in 2011, he put things together towards the end...

Matt Stairs Was Good At Baseball

This morning I was scrolling through some of Dan Szymborski’s projections over at Baseball Think Factory, and I noticed that he had run a projection for Matt Stairs. I had not heard any news about the guy we all know now as a pinch-hitter. As I scoured the internets (read: typed “Matt Stairs” into Google) I quickly realized that Stairs had retired, though since he will be a...

Could Rick Ankiel be starting center-fielder for Nats?

The Washington Nationals re-signed outfielder Rick Ankiel over the weekend and will have the former pitcher compete for the starting role in center-field. The deal is a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training. Ankiel will compete with fellow veteran Mike Cameron and phenom Bryce Harper for a spot on the roster. Ankiel is a very intriguing player because we all...

The Michael Morse 38 Special T-Shirt

While you're sitting around measuring the shift in the balance of power in the NL East after the Nationals signed Mark Teahen to a minor-league deal today, and being thankful that there are only 13 days left until Nats pitchers and catchers report to camp, up there is an ad for the Michael Morse 38 Special shirt from the 22 Fresh Michael Morse collection. Lidge leaves for the Nats. (MLB)Washington Nationals reliever Brad Lidge joined “The Sports Bash with Mike Gill” on 97.3 ESPN FM on Tuesday. My heart’s still here,”...

Would the Nationals consider holding back Strasburg?

The signing of Edwin Jackson presents the Nationals with the kind of problem that every club strives for—they have more starting pitchers than rotation slots. They actually have a LOT more starting pitchers than spots. Stephen Strasburg, Jordan Zimmermann, Gio Gonzalez, and Jackson are all locks while Chien-Ming Wang, John Lannan, and Ross Detwiler will battle for the last...
