Ozzie Guillen had to clarify himself after the outspoken Miami Marlins manager’s mouth got him into trouble once again, this time for remarks about former Cuban leader Fidel Castro. In a recent Time magazine story, Guillen is quoted as saying, “I respect Fidel Castro. You know why? A lot of people have wanted to kill Fidel Castro for the last 60 years, but that mother****** is still here.” Given where Guillen now manages and that region’s large Cuban population, his comments come off as especially controversial. “I am sure I’m against (the way) he thinks, the way he treats people and way he treats his country for a long time,” Guillen said, according to the Palm Beach Post. “I’m against that 100 percent. I’m not crazy or stupid or ignorant to say I love somebody. He not just hurt Cuban people he hurt a lot of people counting Venezuelans. “Whoever got hurt or misunderstood or (took it) the way he wants to take it, I will apologize. I will apologize if I hurt somebodies feelings. ...

  • guillen is a complete moron...hard to believe the Marlins brass thinks this is the guy who will lead them to the promised land. He is THE MOST OVER RATED MANAGER IN BASEBALL. He got LUCKY ONCE with the White Sox, that team won because they were stacked...not because of this *******. He is the only manager I can think of who will stoop so low as to publicly ridicule his players. If he were half a man he would take his players to task behind closed doors when it's necessary. I hope the Marlins fall flat on their face under this jerk so he's exposed for the phony he is. He also needs to learn to shut his piehole, because dew really give a damn what he thinks or has to say.
  • He should live under communism for a while where people go hungry and are economically, socially, spiritually, and culturally stunted. Just aske the Soviets and the East Germans, and Romanians, and Chinese. Oh wait, they abandoned that political system after discovering it is pure hell. But Ozzie thinks its OK for Cubans and says so right in the middle of a town full of Cuban immigrants who fled Castro and his commie machine.

The Dugout Opening Days ’12: Miami Marlins

Ozzie Guillen said some bad things. It wasn’t the first time and it won’t be the last, but this one had a little more despot flattering than most, so it’s a big deal. Of course, we at The Dugout believe in freedom of speech, so if Ozzie wants to say that Fidel Castro is better at skateboarding than Tony Hawk it should be his constitutional right as an American Sports Person...
