Colorado Rockies righthander Claudio Vargas has announced his retirement.Vargas, who signed a minor league deal with the Rockies in January, struggled at Triple-A Colorado Springs with a 11.08 ERA in 26 appearances.He last pitched in the majors in 2010, going 1-0 with a 7.32 ERA in 17 appearances with the Milwaukee Brewers.Vargas, who will turn 33 Sunday, compiled a 48-40 career record with six different teams.
