Pablo Sandoval did not report to AT&T Park on Friday night because he was being question by the police regarding a possible sexual assault.

According to Andrew Baggarly of CSN Bay Area, the Panda voluntarily met with authorities on Friday to discuss what he claims to be a consensual personal relationship of a sexual nature.

The alleged incident took place at the Seascape Beach Resort in Santa Cruz County. The alleged victim did not initially call police, but reported the incident later that day and claimed that she was too intoxicated to give consent

Sandoval has not been charged at this point and the investigation is still ongoing. According to Baggarly’s report, the alleged victim did allow medical staff to perform a sexual forensic evidence kit at an area hospital.

Umpiring, Matt Cain and the case of Pablo Sandoval

There have been several topics concerning the Giants I’ve been waiting to discuss on this site, and today seems like a perfect day to do so. Umpiring, instant replay and a need for change The first topic is a hot one around the league – umpiring and the use of instant replay in Major League Baseball. Let me start off by saying I used to be a big supporter of pure umpiring and...

Sandoval meets with police on sexual encounter

San Francisco Giants star Pablo Sandoval met with detectives of the Santa Cruz Sheriff's Department who are investigating a sexual encounter Sandoval had earlier Friday. However, Sandoval's attorney, Eric Geffon, told CSN Bay Area that while his client admitted engaging in a sexual encounter, it was a "consensual" situation. "He (Geffon) made a statement...

April Skalland, deputy sheriff of the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Department, said the investigation is ongoing. "No charges have been filed. He was not arrested. He was not detained," Skalland told FOX News...

Postgame Wrap: Zito + Defense =

The best defense is a bad offense. The Cubs have a bad offense. The second best defense is good defense. The Giants had that today. Meanwhile, Alfonso Soriano played defense like his socks were on fire. There are routine plays. There are tough plays. The Giants made all of them. Brandon Crawford and Gregor Blanco put on clinics at their respective positions, which no Giant has done...

Pagan joins Cabrera in record production for Giants

Much was made of Melky Cabrera's 51 hits in May, which matched Randy Winn's San Francisco record for hits in a month. But little has been made of Angel Pagan's record. Pagan's is a franchise record, not just a San Francisco record. The center fielder hit in 25 straight home games, and that's a record dating to the history of the franchise, including the...

The Rise Of The Melkmen

To be clear, the Angel we’re referring to was Angel Villalona, not Pagan.  That Angel came with all sorts of renewed hopes for the Giants farm system…until he got arrested.  Pagan came with significant less fanfare, although he has done damned well and has earned a few costumed fans, at least on a temporary basis. In all seriousness, though, seeing the Melkmen at the park has...

Postgame Wrap: Therrific

Ignoring for just a moment the last half inning of last night’s game, the whole thing was pretty spectacular. Madison Bumgarner cruised like he was facing the Rangers on Halloween, but with better control. Melky Cabrera had two hits, Posey had a key hit after falling behind 0-2, and even Brett Pill stole a base. But man, Ryan Theriot. Three hits and a walk, and his hits came in...

Melky Cabrera is MLB’s New Hit King

Giants outfielder Melky Cabrera is backing up a career year in 2011 with a record breaking first half in 2012.

Giants Instant Winners with Instagram Photos

The high tech center of the USA is definitely the Bay Area.  In fact, the region of the country that houses the Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants has a company called Instagram just a few miles from its ballparks.  The Giants do a great job on all of its social media use. Where are the most ballpark pictures from Instagram?  Take a look. Hey Blue Jays fans.  You need...

Giants celebrate 'Turn back the Century' day against Cubs (Video)

The San Francisco Giants held a "Turn Back the Century" promotion on Saturday by commemorating the 1912 season of the franchise during their game against the Chicago Cubs. Your browser does not support iframes. The Giants and Cubs wore throwback uniforms based on the ones the teams wore back in 1912. The Giants uniforms featured the 'NY' insignia because...

Giants 2, Cubs 0

Barry Zito pitched 8 1-3 scoreless innings for his 150th career win and Joaquin Arias snapped an 18 at-bat hitless stretch with an RBI single that led the San Francisco Giants to a 2-0 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Sunday. Angel Pagan scored the game's first run after doubling to set a Giants record by extending his home hitting streak to 27 games. Zito (5-2) was rarely...

Giants 4, Cubs 3

Melky Cabrera remained the hottest hitter in the National League, Madison Bumgarner picked up his first win in nearly four weeks and the San Francisco Giants beat the Chicago Cubs 4-3 on Friday night. Cabrera had two hits to raise his average to .376, tying him with Paul Konerko of the Chicago White Sox for the highest mark in the majors. That comes on the heels of his outstanding...

SF Giants Rumors: Zito’s 150th Career Win, Pagan Home Streak, Penny Scratched, Sandoval News

The San Francisco Giants are on the verge of sweeping the Cubs right out of San Francisco. Barry Zito (5-2) kept the team rolling yesterday by tossing 8.1 solid innings, and collecting his 150th career win. Giants starters have pitched 8-plus innings in 3 straight games. Ryan Vogelsong looks to keep adding to that stat in his start today. Outfielder Angel Pagan extended his home...
