Bowie, MD—On a night when the Akron Aeros needed a stopper, they got three.Needing a win to end a four-game losing streak and avoid a series sweep, Aeros lefty Matt Packer and righthanded relievers Enosil Tejeda and Jose Flores combined on a four-hitter Wednesday night as the Aeros slipped by Bowie, 3-1, at Prince George’s Stadium.Packer (7-5) went six innings and limited the Sox to three hits and a single run. It came in the first inning when Niuman Romero singled, stole second, and scored on a bloop single by Seth Loman. After that, Packer was lights out.He retired the next 11 hitters in a row, and allowed just one more hit through six innings. Packer won for the sixth straight time and lowered his ERA to 2.50, tops among active EL pitchers.
