Last night’s Padres-Braves game came and went. Odds are none of you watched it and that’s a damn shame because you missed the catch of the night. Logan Forsythe, the Padres infielder hit what looked like a routine foul ball…until a Padres ball girl named Catalina stepped in. Hopping up instinctively from her chair, Catalina stuck her glove out and pulled a frozen rope out of the air. Best part of the video? Braves reliever Chad Durbin pays Catalina his respects with a fist-pound. Honestly, the Padres might have the best ball girl staff in all of baseball. This wasn’t the first time one of them has made the highlight reel with a show-stopping catch. Back in June, Padres ball girl Lisa made a catch that might trump Catalina’s. What’s the deal? Something in the water out there in San Diego? Do they scout their ball girls? Your browser does not support iframes.

Daily Farm Round-Up: 8-27-12

Excluding Tucson’s offensive output where Jedd Gyorko hit his 6th home run over his last 9 games for Tucson, it was a very rough night for every offense on the farm. Lake Elsinore managed to put up 4 runs, but they couldn’t keep the JetHawks off the board as they lost 12-4.Hitting...

Padres sweep D-backs as playoff pressure mounts

PHOENIX -- This was supposed to be the easy part. The Diamondbacks on Sunday wrapped up a stretch of 10 games against teams with losing records but only won half those contests. The San Diego Padres capped the seemingly favorable stretch Sunday by finishing off a three-game sweep with a 5-4 win. It was the second time since the All-Star break the D-backs were swept by an opponent...

Daily Friar 8.29.12

As the old cliche goes, all good things must come to an end. Thus the Padres ran into a road block in their win streak last night. Even though Andrew Werner pitched awesome again last night, he was stuck with the tough luck loss. The tough luck was the fact that he had to go up against Kris Medlen who has been nothing short of outstanding lately. I'm hoping that Werner doesn...

Madfriars' Daily Farm Report: August 26

Andrew Cashner had a strong second rehab outing on an ugly day for the Padres system. The bats were completely shut down in Tucson, San Antonio and Fort Wayne, and only slightly better even in the hitters' paradise of Lancaster. Eugene pulled out the system's only victory.

Free Chase Headley!

In baseball, and I guess life itself,  it is always fun to play the “What if..” game. Always! What if Miguel Cabrera played for a contender, but in a hitter’s park? What if Bud Norris could pitch nearly as well on the road as he does at home? What if Tim McCarver enlightened people with his thoughts and insights? See? It’s a fun game, right? That’s rhetorical folks...
