The San Diego Padres made it two in a row over the Atlanta Braves, as Chase Headley homered and starter Andrew Cashner out-pitched Tim Hudson. Hudson was sharp again on Tuesday night. But he did not get the run support he deserved and absorbed the loss. The win over the Braves has given the Padres a chance to sweep the series tomorrow afternoon. The Braves got on the board first when Freddie Freeman singled in the 1st inning to score Andrelton Simmons. It did not take the Padres long to get that run back as Chase Headley sent a ball over the right field wall, to tie it up at 1 after the first inning. The Padres added 1 run in both the 2nd and 3rd innings. Nick Hundley’s double in the 2nd, and Carlos Quentin’s single in the 3rd, padded the Padres lead to 3-1. The score stayed that way until the 6th, when the Braves cut the Padres lead down to a single run. With runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs, Freddie Freeman grounded into a double play. The double play cleared the bases, but did score Jason Heyward from 3rd. Heyward’s score made it a 3-2 Padre lead. It would stay there the rest of the way as the Padres pitching staff owned the Braves. Although he did not get much support, Hudson was sharp again for the Braves. His night finished in the 8th inning with 7.1IP, 3ER, and 7 K’s. Tim Hudson has pitched well over his last six starts, the only thing he has to show for it is an 0-4 record. Besides last night’s Teheran start, the Atlanta starting pitchers have been as hot as anybody in baseball. The only problem is that the Braves offense is not giving them runs to work with. Hopefully, the Braves will get the bats going tomorrow afternoon. The Braves will try to salvage at least one game in this series with the Padres. The Nationals and Phillies both lost on Tuesday night, so the Braves maintain their 7 game lead in the NL East. The post Padres Cashner Outduels Braves Hudson, 3-2 appeared first on Atlanta Bullpen.
