Play the best baseball in the National League since the All-Star Break, the San Diego Padres won for the fifth time in their last six series played, defeating the Diamondbacks on Friday and Sunday at Petco Park. Chase Headley continued his torrid pace with a pair of homers on Friday, the second a go-ahead shot in the bottom of the eighth, followed by a Grand Slam on Sunday. His eight RBI weekend pushed him into the National League lead with a whopping 102. He finished the series hitting .284 with 27 home runs, earning Friarhood Player of the Series for the second straight week. The Padres will face another formidable opponent as the playoff contending Cardinals will come to town hanging on to that final wild card spot with a 1.5 game lead over the Dodgers.
