The Baltimore Orioles continue to play well, even though their fragile starting rotation may have taken another hit.
They'll look to Chris Tillman to give them a much-needed strong start when they host the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night.
Baltimore (23-15) has won six of eight and looks forward to an eight-game homestand - the first two coming versus the Padres - after playing 14 of 17 on the road. The Orioles capped that stretch with a 6-0 win at Minnesota on Sunday, though it was bittersweet.
A strained right oblique forced Wei-Yin Chen to exit after five innings. Chen, who's allowed two runs in 11 1-3 innings over his past two starts, was set to be re-evaluated Monday, though manager Buck Showalter was optimistic that the injury wasn't serious.
Whether or not Chen is sidelined for an extended period, the rotation remains Baltimore's primary weakness. The Orioles rank in the top 10 in most offensive categories and their bullpen ERA of 2.64 is also among the b...

Adam Jones of the Baltimore Orioles smashed a line drive home run during the O’s 6-0 win over the Twins on Sunday, but upon further review it wasn’t that normal. The home run barely cleared the outfield fence yet somehow it ended up hitting a railing right at the wall and landed in the upper deck. Not sure how one would measure that one, but it made for good TV. [MLB] Article...
Baltimore Orioles center fielder Adam Jones hit an upper deck home run, via the lower deck railing, in the third inning of Sunday's 6-0 win over the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.

Jones hit a line drive over the left field wall, but the ball took an unusual bounce off the lower railing and went straight up into the seats in the...
Orioles left-hander Wei-Yin Chen has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain.
Chen left Sunday's start against Minnesota with a pain in his right side. The move, made Tuesday, is retroactive to May 13.
Chen isn't sure how much time he will miss. Through an interpreter, he said, ''The only thing I can do right now is help myself and get...
The move was expected, but it became all but official yesterday afternoon. The Baltimore Orioles are expected to place Wei-Yin Chen on the 15-day DL. He suffered a right oblique strain in his start on Sunday. The injury proved to be severe enough that Chen will have to miss some time to allow it to heal.
According to Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com, the Orioles are expected...
The Baltimore Orioles have optioned right-hander Steve Johnson to Triple-A Norfolk after he started Saturday's game against the Twins.
Johnson allowed seven hits and six earned runs, while striking out three in four innings in his first start of the season. He walked four.
Johnson, who was 4-0 with a 2.11 ERA in 12 games (four starts) for Baltimore last season, hoped to make...
The Baltimore Orioles have recalled left-handed pitcher Michael Belfiore from Triple-A Norfolk to take the place of Steve Johnson. Belfiore’s stay may be quick if he pitches like he did in Norfolk. He was throwing a 5.52 ERA over 14 innings of work. But he also struck out 17 over those 14 innings and will be used in middle relief. As a lefty, he may be brought in to work one batter...
The Baltimore Orioles have recalled right-handed pitcher Steve Johnson from their Triple-A Norfolk minor league affiliate. He will serve as the Oriole’s fifth starter as Miguel Gonzalez is on the disabled list. In other moves the organization had optioned right-handed pitcher Alex Burnett to the same farm club to make room for Johnson on the active roster. After the game though...
Physics and probability put together are really cool. What are the chances we will ever see a hit ball smack guard rail at just the right speed and angle where it will bounce way up into the air about 20-25 feet then land in the second deck? Probably pretty slim. But that’s exactly what happened with an Adam Jones home run at Target Field when the Baltimore Orioles took on the...
It may seem kind of odd to say that a home run that landed in the upper deck is low, but this dinger that Adam Jones blasted for the Orioles in a 6-0 win Sunday was just that. It just so happened to get one heck of a fortuitous bounce to give the lift it needed at the last second to make the upper deck! Watch and you'll see what I mean!

On my visit to the Baltimore Sports Hall of Fame today, I got to see some all-time Orioles fantasy baseball stats. Take a look.
Baltimore Orioles all-time leaders.
The Baltimore Orioles always knew Manny Machado was special but not sure if they realized he was going to be this poised for a 20-year old. Machado makes a ridiculous heads up defensive play to bail his team out of a dangerous inning against the Tampa Bay Rays. Again this guy is 20-years old and mature beyond his years.

It looks like Wei-Yin Chen will be on the disabled list. I figured that would happen, it did not look good for Chen when he was on the mound Sunday. He was diagnosed with an oblique strain.
Considering that Chen is perhaps the most consistent starter on the team, it remains to be seen what will happen with the Orioles.

Well, the Baltimore Orioles lost last night to the San Diego Padres, 3-2, in a thrilling game that didn’t end very well.
They rallied in the eighth inning, breaking a 1-1 tie, thanks to a stolen base and heads-up base running by Alexi Casilla, followed by an RBI single from Steve Pearce.
Baltimore was stifled for much of the night by San Diego starter Andrew Cashner; however...
