2012 Top 20 Prospects – San Diego Padres

2012 Top 20 Prospects – San Diego Padres It’s prospect season again. I’ve had my rankings listed on team pages, but have been horrible about keeping those up to date. As I mentioned on the pages, I’m looking at other rankings when I make mine (along with scouting reports and my own opinion). To the West Coast for the Padres. For the top 20, I’ve listed them according to...

Moseley shuts down Diamondbacks in win over Padres

All Dustin Moseley needed was to make a few adjustments on his cut-fastball delivery. The San Diego starter induced four double plays Sunday in six sharp innings, leading the Padres to a 4-3 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Moseley, who went 3-10 with a 3.30 ERA in 20 starts last season, limited Arizona to a run and seven hits. He recorded 12 of his 18 outs on groundballs and...

O.T.B.N.L. (Owner to be named later)

When John Moores sold the San Diego Padres to Jeff Moorad back in 2009, in a deal that was scheduled to take up to 5 years, I said that "the layaway plan is good for Moorad, but bad for the fans. Teams need stability at the top and this will leave too many unanswered questions." Now with the news of Moorad stepping down it looks like the layaway plan wasn't so great...

Daily Friar 3.27.12

The Padres couldn't continue their winning ways yesterday as they dropped the game against the Cubs 2-0. This looks like a familiar game from last season. Starting pitcher does awesome, but can't get any run support to help him get a win. Dustin Moseley fell victim to that quite a bit last year. Yesterday it was Tim Stauffer who was on the short end there. Also I want to...

Madfriars Interview Blake Tekotte

Blake Tekotte was a 3rd round pick in 2008. After being named a Cal League All Star in 2010, he finished the year with a great .276/.367/.478 line with 18 HR and 28 SB. He followed it up with an even more impressive 2011 campaign, which saw him earn his 1st big league promotion in late May. Tekotte had 2 hits in his 1st 2 big league AB, and managed to make a name for himself among Padre fans.

Daily Friar 3.25.12

Today is the final day of the weekend trip out here in Peoria. So far it has been a blast with a win Friday night, a loss yesterday, and a fun night at the Tilted Kilt. Daniel Robertson, Brad Boxberger, and Cody Decker made appearances while I was there. I left before Keyvius Sampson showed up apparently. Between me and Brandon Cline, there are going to be some good photos to share...

A mid-spring night’s dream

Have you ever had one of those dreams where you’re convinced it’s real? It takes you several minutes after waking to realize where you are and to understand that what just took place was merely a dream. It’s a strange feeling, unsettling. Why the heck should you care about my dreams? I’m not sure you should, but allow me some room to do something a little different with this...
