The San Diego Padres have recalled right-handed reliever Miles Mikolas from Triple-A Tucson and placed right-handed starter Sean O'Sullivan on paternity leave.
Mikolas was called up Tuesday for the fourth time this season. He's made one appearance this year, pitching a scoreless ninth inning at home against San Francisco on July 11. In 44 games at Tucson, he is 3-1 with 21 saves and a 2.86 ERA. Mikolas made his big league debut with the Padres last season, going 2-1 with a 3.62 ERA in 25 relief appearances.
O'Sullivan started Monday night in the Padres' 2-1 victory against Cincinnati. He and his wife, Sabrina, are expecting the birth of their first child. O'Sullivan is eligible to return as early as Wednesday and as late as Friday. He is 0-2 with a 5.92 ERA in four appearances this season, including three starts.
