Edwin Jackson could soon be calling Petco Park home. Jim Bowden of ESPN reported today via twitter,
“Padres and Edwin Jackson continue to negotiate towards 3- year deal according to Padres source”

With most of the free agent starters off the market, Jackson and 34 year old Kyle Lohse are the best names available. If Jackson were to sign, the Padres would be the eighth team for the 29 year old.
Our own Brandon Cline made his case for Edwin Jackson earlier this week. If Jackson does sign he would compete for (and should win) the opening day start and join a group that includes Jason Marquis, Edinson Volquez, Clayton Richard, Eric Stults, Casey Kelly, as well as Andrew Cashner, Cory Luebke, and Joe Wieland when they return from injury.

The San Diego Padres have been quiet this winter, but they could make some big noise if they pull off a deal for one of the hottest remaining free agent pitchers. The Padres are talking with Edwin Jackson about a multi-year deal, but the question is whether San Diego can keep up with other teams who may be interested.

There wasn’t even so much as a whimper from the team minus the fact that they are looking for a couple of pieces. Now we are starting to hear some rumblings come from San Diego, and no I am not talking about the earthquake yesterday...

I want to step aside for a second and apologize yet again for not having a Daily Friar for...

ESPN’s Jim Bowden reports that multiple American League teams are interested in trading for Los Angeles Angels slugger Kendrys Morales.
The Angels reportedly want to hold on to both Mark Trumbo and Peter Bourjos following the signing of Josh Hamilton, and could look to shop Morales to DH-needy teams. Bowden considers the Tampa Bay Rays, Houston Astros, and Cleveland Indians as...
