David Ortiz expressed some unhappiness with the Boston media (again) this afternoon in a pre-game interview. Peter Abraham has the story:

"Not really," Ortiz said when asked if he was having fun playing for the Red Sox. "People need to let us alone and let us play ball."

Boston, Ortiz said, "is becoming to be the [expletive]-hole it used to be. Playing here used to be so much fun. Now, every day, it's something new not even related to baseball. People need to leave us alone, play ball man and do what we know how to do."

He went on to say he was tired of the drama in Boston. Can't say I blame him...but he's been here 10 years. You've got to know the deal by now, David.

That said, he's having a remarkable year. ESPNBoston pointed out the "Ruthian" season Ortiz is putting together in this blog post. It would be a shame if it gets derailed by yet another behavioral circus.

I don't think it will. Ortiz sounds off once or twice a year. Maybe it's the heat. Maybe it's that he's been so good and the team's been so average. Maybe, like Bobby V suggested, he's voicing the feelings of his teammates and just taking it on himself. Whatever the case, it'll pass.
