Former Brewers left-hander Manny Parra has agreed to a one-year major league contract with the Cincinnati, the club announced Friday. FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports the deal is worth 1 million dollars with the potential for Parra to earn an additional 400,000 in appearance bonuses. The 30-year-old was not tendered a contract by the Brewers after appearing in 62 games for Milwaukee in 2012, posting a 5.06 ERA in 58 23 innings. Parra made 1.2 million in 2012 and was arbitration eligible for the third and final time in 2013, but the Brewers chose to move on. "Thank u Milwaukee for everything over the years," Parra tweeted Friday. "U will always mean a lot to me. I am pumped to be a Red and training can't come fast enough. "And thank you for all the well wishes. The good in people never ceases to amaze me." Drafted by the Brewers in the 26th round in the 2001 draft and signed in 2002 as a draft-and-follow prospect, Parra has spent his entire professional career in the Milwaukee organization. Featuring stuff that's hard to find in a lefty, Parra was given many chances by the Brewers simply due to his vast potential, but his career with the club will go down as nothing but disappointing. His talent and raw stuff caused Parra to post stellar numbers in the minor leagues, including tossing a perfect game in just his second career Triple-A start in 2007, the same year he was named the Brewers minor league pitcher of the year. Parra's first full season in the big leagues came in 2008, making 29 starts and posting a 4.39 ERA for the Brewers. In the rotation again in 2009, Parra struggled to a 6.36 ERA in 27 starts and was moved to the bullpen in 2010. An elbow injury caused Parra to sit out all of 2011 and he returned to Milwaukee's bullpen in 2012, but failed to take advantage of yet another opportunity. In five seasons with the Brewers, Parra finished with a 26-33 record in 172 games, with a 5.12 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 513 innings. FollowAndrew Gruman onTwitter.
