Found October 31, 2013 on With Leather:
The Boston Red Sox defeated the St. Louis Cardinals to win the World Series last night and people across the country are coming to terms with that. Some are responding positively, be it via random cursing in front of reporters or furious party riots. Some aren’t taking it so well, such as FOX 2 In The Morning meteorologist Glenn Zimmerman. Watch this poor guy have to go through the motions of doing his job while dealing with the crushing disappointment of a World Series loss. Spoiler alert: he’s one of Baseball’s Best Fans, so the motions aren’t graceful. It could be worse, George. You could be a weatherman in Cleveland. [h/t to Reddit]

Carlos Beltran's Magic Ointment: "Good Luck"

The Cardinals are just hours away from taking the field in Boston for GM6 of the World Series. And on that field will be Carlos Beltran, even after jamming his ribcage robbing David Ortiz of a grand slam and having to leave GM1.  Side: can you imagine Ortiz's stat line if he hadn't of caught that?  The reason Beltran was back the next night and not the next...

Despite 2013 Success, Cardinals Have Many Off-Season Issues

In many ways the 2013 regular season is one in which the St. Louis Cardinals were overachievers. Losing a front end starting rotation pitcher in Chris Carpenter; losing closer Jason Motte; losing shortstop and leadoff hitter Rafael Furcal, all before the season got underway. Then, a month into the season, the Redbirds lost the only left-handed pitcher in their starting rotation,...

Cardinals Fan Arrested For Being Stupid

I'm not saying the St. Louis Cardinals have the worst fans in baseball...far from it.  That said, they're not as good as they would like to think they are. Here's one reason why. Meet Bobby Metzinger.  The 31-year-old Cardinals fan was arrested this past weekend for, get this, making threats via Twitter.  The threats have since disappeared, but our friends...

While nobody is saying it, Beltran is all but gone -- but to where?

BOSTON -- Neither Carlos Beltran nor John Mozeliak came out and said that the right fielder's run in St. Louis is over. But they didn't need to. As much as Beltran enjoyed his two years wearing the Birds on the Bat, and as much as he provided the Cardinals on and off the field, they know. Business rules. The Cardinals no longer need Beltran like they did when Albert Pujols...

Cardinals flight delayed for six hours before crucial World Series Game 6

The St. Louis Cardinals were delayed for six hours in advance of Game 6 of the World Series after their team plane got grounded by mechanical problems. Of course some people had fun blaming the delay on an obstruction by Will Middlebrooks. Quick somebody photoshop Will Middlebrooks in front of the #Cardinals team charter as it sits on a runway. #WorldSeries #stlcards #redsox...

Cardinals Matt Carpenter and His Playoff Woes

St. Louis Cardinals second baseman Matt Carpenter had a great regular season. The former 13th round draft pick put up a .318/.392/.481 batting line. He led all second basemen in batting average and on-base percentage, and trailed only Robinson Cano in slugging percentage. His 7.0 fWAR was the sixth best in the majors. All in all, he has a solid case for NL MVP. Carpenter’s...

The Cardinals as an Object Lesson

The St. Louis Cardinals are often referred to as a “model organization”, and for good reason. Despite playing in one of the smallest markets of any team in Major League Baseball, they have built a sustainable model of success, flowing through nearly every aspect of the game. They draft and develop talent exceptionally well, leading to a seemingly never ending pipeline of young...

Wacha's Woes: Rookie's roll, Cards season, end

BOSTON -- Michael Wacha's masterful pitching run is over. So is the St. Louis Cardinals' season. The 22-year-old rookie who burst on the major league scene with the poise of a veteran failed on baseball's biggest stage. Wacha allowed six runs in 3 23 innings Wednesday night and the Boston Red Sox went on to a 6-1 win in Game 6 for their third World Series title in 10...

Preview: Wacha takes on Lackey in Game 6 at Fenway

BOSTON -- Michael Wacha had a funny way of preparing for his World Series start that's supposed to save the season for the St. Louis Cardinals. The 22-year-old October ace spent Tuesday afternoon on the tarmac at the St. Louis airport when the team plane got grounded by mechanical problems. It took all day before the Cardinals finally arrived in Boston, trailing the Red Sox...

Beltran heads list of five Cards free agents

Carlos Beltran, Chris Carpenter, Edward Mujica, Rafael Furcal and Jake Westbrook are free agents, soon eligible to sign anywhere.

Cardinals' highly successful season comes to unfulfilling end in Game 6 of World Series

BOSTON -- By the end of the fourth inning, Major League Baseball already had issued rules and regulations to the media that would be covering the World Series' trophy presentation Wednesday night. Sure, the email included the obligatory, "IF the Red Sox win Game 6 ... " But such a qualifier was not necessary. The Red Sox led 6-0 at the time and, yes, it felt like...

Matt Carpenter and a Most Amazing Strike

I want to assure you right away that what follows isn’t sour grapes. I don’t have a dog in this fight. Even if I did, I’d complain on my own time, and not on the job in front of everyone (probably). What follows is about a call, and a controversial one at that, early in Monday’s Game. But I’m not here to talk about  various implications. I’m here to talk about the call’s...

St. Louis weatherman bemoans Cardinals’ woeful offense during forecast (video)

Meet St. Louis’ FOX 2 meteorologist Chris Higgins. While doing a forecast on Wednesday afternoon, he utilized some technical difficulties to segue into a rip on how ineffective the St. Louis Cardinals offense had been up to that point against Boston Red Sox pitching during the World Series — in particular during Monday’s 3-1 loss […]The post St. Louis weatherman bemoans Cardinals’...

MLB Game Picks - Wrapping it up in a bow

The season officially ended as the Boston Red Sox claimed the World Series title with a dominating win over the St. Louis Cardinals. I was a bit sad that I correctly picked the last game as I wanted the series to go a full seven. But I was correct in that the Red Sox were like sharks with blood in the water and that logic dictated that the green Michael Wacha had no more miracles...

Red Sox Win Game 6 to Clinch 2013 World Series over the St. Louis Cardinals

Wow! What a difference a year makes. From 69-93 to 97-65 and World Series Champions, David Oritz, Dustin Pedroia, John Lester who were vital parts to the 2007 team that last won the World Series. John Lackey who fell short in Game 2 to youngster Michael Wacha got the upperhand tonight. Wacha, similar to Game […]
