The Sox second half SS, Alex Gonzalez recently signed with the rival Toronto Blue Jays. Also, the organization is uncertain about the ability of Jed Lowrie to play everyday in 2010 after his injury woes. That leaves the Red Sox brass with a choice to make! Do they sign a free agent SS, make a trade or return Pedroia to his natural position (SS) while they see about the durability of Lowrie?
If it were up to me, I’d put Pedroia at SS in a heartbeat!
Just read what he has to say about it per Peter Gammons in his article Pedroia interested in move back to SS.
“They’ve asked me if I think I could play shortstop,” Pedroia says. “They’ve put it out there and I’ve told them I’m all for it. I can do it. I can’t wait for Tito [Terry Francona] to call me and ask, ‘Can you do it?’ I can do it. I really want to do it.”
