Pena signs minor league deal with D’Backs

The Diamondbacks signed former veteran outfielder Wily Mo Pena to a minor league deal on Wednesday.  That deal includes an invitation to Spring Training and if he makes the club, Pena would receive $675,000 for the season. The 28-year-old hasn’t gotten a major league at-bat since his stint with the Nationals back in 2008.  During that year, Pena hit .205 with two home runs and 10 RBI in only 206 at-bats.  The outfielder had his best season backs in 2004 with the Reds when he hit .259 with 26 dingers and 66 RBI.  He also had a stint with the Red Sox in 2006 and part of the 2007 season.  Pena spent last season playing in independent ball and played in 40 games with the Padres Triple-A affiliate.
