SAN FRANCISCO -- Hunter Pence was acquired just before the trade deadline to bolster the San Francisco Giants' low-scoring offense at home. After going hitless in his first four at-bats on Sunday, he became the hero with one swing. Pence hit a three-run home run to left in the bottom of the eighth inning to help the Giants beat the Colorado Rockies 9-6 on Sunday afternoon. "That moment is a big inning for us and we got it done," Pence said. "A lot of things came together for that opportunity to come up and I think everyone enjoyed it on our team. It was great for the team to come together late in the game and tie it up and win it, it was huge for us." The Giants blew a 3-0 first-inning lead, yet managed to come back from a two-run deficit by scoring five runs in the eighth, highlighted by Pence's clout. Prior to the home run, Pence struggled, striking out twice and also lining into a double play. He had been 0-for-10 for the Giants in home games ...

Buster Posey and the Plate Appearance of the Season
Fast-forward to the eighth inning. Buster Posey is up. The bases are loaded, with one out. The Giants are down by one run. The game is essentially in Posey’s hands. The leverage index (LI) of the situation is 7.59, the second-highest it’s been for any Giants batter at any point this season. And Rafael Betancourt, who has held right-handed hitters to a .196 wOBA this season, is...

DeLorean boat cruises around McCovey Cove
The most interesting thing for Giants fans during Friday Night’s 3-0 loss to the lowly Rockies was a bizarre watercraft outside the stadium in McCovey Cove.
A man with a boat/hovercraft in the shape of the DeLorean from the Back to the Future movies raced around McCovey cove in the fourth inning of the game.
Unfortunately, the driver lost control of the craft and crashed into some rocks.

The San Francisco Giants activated third baseman Pablo Sandoval from the disabled list before Monday's game against the Nationals, but Sandoval was not in Monday's starting lineup. Manager Bruce Bochy had said earlier that Sandoval would not start Monday's game, but he is expected to be back in the lineup Tuesday and Wednesday. "I wasn't going to start him...
Buster Posey - MVP candidate
The race for the Most Valuable Player is a lot like a singing contest. It doesn't really matter much how the song starts, but how it finishes. And while most agree that if the season were to end right now, a certain Mr. McCutchen of the Pirates would probably get the nod. The season is not over yet. With a little more than a month and a half to go, Buster Posey has more than...
