In his second start in the Arizona Fall League, Phil Hughes threw yet another great game. Hughes allowed just four hits and one walk for one run (a home run), while striking out three in five innings. This is a huge step from last week's performance, despite the fact that Hughes allowed a run, due to the fact that his number of walks decrease drastically. This could show that last week's number of walks was solely due to the fact that Hughes had not pitched for about two weeks. Phil Hughes has been working on adding a cutter to his arsenal of pitches and it is looking as if this could make Hughes even more dangerous come 2009. Should his early success in the AFL be a foreshadowing of things to come in 2009, it would be a huge mistake to trade Hughes this offseason.
