Cliff Lee of the Philadelphia Phillies is among the best pitchers in the majors. What west coast hurlers are in that group? The Apocalyptic Horsemen Stats are in my daily coverage.

I am alternating a game-day 2012 ERA For The NL East and a 2012 ERA For The MLB 5. See link section below. In each publication, the number after the title will be based on the quantity of outcomes played by the Phillies. Occasionally, I will skip a stat update, especially after a night game before a matinee.

REASONING For The Stats:

These numbers are a glimpse over the pitching coach’s shoulder, because they warn of difficulty ahead. The rule of thumb is that the bullpen load should be no more than 33.3%, which is a 6-complete average per scheduled outing. That is why going a distance into the game is 6.1 frames or more, which is 70.4%. The added detail of 1 out per contest is 54 innings over the long summer’s course. This also shows the mound masters that give the relievers a well deserved night off, but there is a rust factor due to lack of backend chances. If there are any questions, please ask.

Philadelphia Phillies: 2012 ERA for the NL East at game 147

Lee Re-Inflates Tires on Phillies Bandwagon – 14 Games Until Playoffs

It’s September and Cliff Lee showed why he makes the big bucks.  Now that the Phils are back on the winning track they have 14 games remaining in their season.  They are 3.5 games back of the Cardinals who have 15 games left in their season.   The Dodgers, Pirates and Brewers are sandwiched in between the Phils and the Cardinals.  Given their current situation this is how...

Phillies win in New York, fan support at 60%

Cliff Lee strikes out 10 in win The Phillies ended their brief losing streak in New York last night with great pitching from Cliff Lee and timely home runs. Lee went 8 innings, striking out 10 for the Phillies sixth win over the Mets this year. Home runs by Rollins and Brown provided enough offense to get the Phillies back on winning ways. The Phillies entered the game 4 behind St...

Lee Helped by Rollins, Brown in Phillies Win

Earlier today on our Phillies Nation twitter account (@PhilliesNation), I posted this: Well, it happened. Cliff Lee was awesome tonight, fanning 10 Mets in eight innings as the Phillies held on for a 3-1 victory. Jimmy Rollins and Domonic Brown supplied the offense, both going yard to right field; Rollins in the fifth inning, Brown in the seventh, both off starter and Cy Young candidate...

Lee’s Effort Returns Phillies To .500

After a disastrous weekend in Houston, the Phillies managed to crawl back to the .500 mark after a 3-1 win over the Mets on Monday night. Cliff Lee pitched extremely well, allowing only 1 run over 8 innings. His strong performance kept the Phillies in the game against tough knuckleballer, R.A. Dickey. For the offense, Jimmy Rollins is on a serious hot streak. It seems lately that...

The Phils gives some runs support to Cliff Lee as they defeat the Mets, 3-1.

The Phils give Cliff Lee some much needed runs support as they defeat the Mets, 3-1. The Phils took a quick 1-0 lead in the first as, with a runner on third, and with one man out, Chase Utley hits a sacrifice fly, knocking in Jimmy Rollins, who had started the game off by reaching first base on a strikeout-passed ball, moved up to second base on R.A. Dickey’s pickoff attempt throwing...

Gameday: Phillies (73-74) at Mets (66-80)

Philadelphia Phillies (73-74) at New York Mets (66-80) Cliff Lee (5-7, 3.36) vs. R.A. Dickey (18-5, 2.68) Time: 7:10 p.m, Citi Field TV: CSN, MLBN Weather: Partly Cloudy, 75 Media: Twitter and Facebook The Phillies took a huge step backwards in Houston.  They had a chance to make up ground in the Wild Card, but dropped three out of four to the worst team in baseball.  The Phillies...

Phillies 3, Mets 1

Cliff Lee struck out 10 while outdueling Cy Young contender R.A. Dickey, and the Philadelphia Phillies regained their winning touch by beating the New York Mets 3-1 Monday night. Jimmy Rollins homered with the help of video replay and Domonic Brown also hit a solo shot off Dickey (18-6). The Phillies pulled within 3 1/2 games of idle St. Louis for the second NL wild-card spot, though...

Cliff Lee strikes out 10, Phillies beat R.A. Dickey, Mets 3-1

The Phillies were looking to shake off a horrendous four-game series in Houston in which they lost three of four. Cliff Lee was set to start against R.A. Dickey and the Mets, hoping to gain some ground in the wildcard standings. The Phillies got an early lead tonight in Flushing with an RBI sac fly to center field from Chase Utley, scoring Jimmy Rollins. 1-0 Phils.Cliff...

Lee, Phils Edge Mets, 3-1.

Final: Phillies 3, Mets 1. WP: Cliff Lee (6-7, 3.27 ERA) LP: R.A. Dickey (18-6, 2.67 ERA) SV: Jonathan Papelbon (35) The Phillies needed to score quickly tonight off of Mets' ace R.A. Dickey if they wanted to increase their chances of winning, especially after the rough series they just concluded down in Houston against the Astros.   They did just that. Jimmy Rollins led off...

Lee, Phillies deny Dickey his 19th victory

NEW YORK - There have been few highlights for the New York Mets during the stretch run of another disappointing season, except for R.A. Dickey's final opportunities to reach the 20-win mark and, perhaps, earn a Cy Young award. But Dickey has continued to insist that is not his focus and that he will not do anything to "manipulate" his chances if he thinks it won&...

Cliff Gets Cheers Bar The Wins

Yesterday, Cliff Lee gave the line 8 IP, 1 ER, 8 baserunners, 10 Ks to move his record to 6-7 in 190 innings.  That’s to go with a 3.27 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP.  If you had 7 wins as his over/under for the year with a full season of starts and without him being traded midseason to the Astros, you might win yourself a lot of money.  If you doubled down with the bet, Roy Halladay’s...

Cole Hamels, Phillies Keep Striving For A Wild Card Spot As They Take On Mets

Monday night proved successful for the Phillies as Cliff Lee and his team earned a solid 3-1 win against the Mets. The Phillies got an early lead and maintained it until the end. Hitting and pitching was on point as Lee struck out ten. He earned his sixth win of the year, while helping his team defeat the Mets. Yesterday's scheduled game was postponed due to rain. It will be...

Game Preview: Phillies @ Mets

The Mets and Phillies start a series tonight as the Mets look to play spoiler for the suddenly resurgent Phillies. If you have been tuned off to baseball with the Mets decline, the Phillies have been on the rise to become mathematically relevant as the Pirates have really slid off. Tonight, R.A. Dickey will make the start as he goes against Cliff Lee. Dickey is 18-5 over 205.0...
