Tyler Cloyd of the Philadelphia Phillies is their newest rotation member.  How do other recent additions in the NL East match up with him?  The Apocalyptic Horsemen Stats are in my recent coverage linked below.

TAL’S HANDY STATS

WELCOME, NEWCOMERS:

I am alternating a game-day 2012 ERA For The NL East and a 2012 ERA For The MLB 5. See link section below. In each publication, the number after the title will be based on the quantity of outcomes played by the Phillies. Occasionally, I will skip a stat update, especially after a night game before a matinee.

Tal’s Handy Stats will be delayed until the daily article’s feed is completed.  Photo, not described otherwise, is in the 1st inning.

REASONING For The Stats:

These numbers are a glimpse over the pitching coach’s shoulder, because they warn of difficulty ahead. The rule of thumb is that the bullpen load should be no more than 33.3%, which is a 6-complete average per scheduled outing. That is why going a distance into the game is 6.1 frames or more, which is 70.4%. The added detail of 1 out per contest is 54 innings over the long summer’s course. This also shows the mound masters that give the relievers a well deserved night off, but there is a rust factor due to lack of backend chances. If there are any questions, please ask.

Why I Love the Phillies – Mary

Each Friday, we will post a reader story from our “Why I Love the Phillies” contest. Why I love the Phillies, well it’s quite simple. I love the Phillies because it’s a major connection to my family and from where my family came from. My everyone in my family has been devoted Phillies fans since 1918, the year that my grandfather, Anthony, was born. He grew up loving the...

For the Phillies, it’s all about 2013 now

The Philadelphia Phillies are winding toward the conclusion of this largely disappointing season. In a couple of games, maybe even 1, the Phillies will be eliminated from postseason play for the first time since 2006. It was a good run. But is it over? That is one of several questions facing Phillies brass as they move toward next season. The Phillies will deem this offseason as...

It’s official, the Phillies are out of the race

The Phillies playoff run is officially over after losing to the Marlins 2-1 last night. It was another “walk-off” loss for the Phillies their 12th this season, personifying the season. No hitting and poor relief pitching ,a formula in many of the Phillies losses and what needs to be addressed in the off-season. We all new it was coming but I have to admit it still hurts. From...

Bryce Harper loves to rake against Philadelphia

Another evening, another Bryce Harper first inning home run, another Nationals win over the Phillies. Last night’s victim was Tyler Cloyd. It was Harper’s 21st home run of his rookie year. If this season went on a little longer, Harper would put up some eye-popping numbers. The bomb was his 94th run scored on the season. Remember, the guy didn’t come up until a month into...

Marlins go for another win against Philadelphia

The Philadelphia Phillies began the season believing it could be like each of the previous five, with an NL East title and a chance to win the World Series. For the first time in six years, though, they won't even have the opportunity to finish as champions. A day after being eliminated from postseason contention, the slumping Phillies face a Miami Marlins team on Saturday...

Philadelphia Phillies storyline: 155-7

As they cling to the final arrow in their quiver, the Philadelphia Phillies and Jimmy Rollins are running out of battles.  However, did anybody expect a postseason shot this late in the year? TAL’S HANDY CAPS   WELCOME, NEWCOMERS: I will publish after every battle that is not washed out.  I will have many summer-long highlights of puzzle pieces, especially important after drubbings...

Ryan Howard's Season Over With Broken Toe

Seems fitting, no? According to many reports, including MLB.com's Todd Zolecki, Ryan Howard is done for the season with a broken toe. It seems he broke it by accidentally dropped his on-deck circle lead pipe on it. Darin Ruf will start at first base for the Phillies tonight in Miami.

Pregame: Elimination Almost Certain, Phillies Take Their Talents to South Beach

It has more to do with the bad cold I've been fighting all week than the quality of baseball (I'll watch anyone play the sport, no matter how brutal) but I've shut every game off early this week with an idea how they'd all end. What can you say? They made it interesting but when they had a real chance to make it interesting, they fell short. The winter should...

With Five Games Remaining, Phillies Eliminated From Postseason Play.

The Phillies were officially eliminated from October playoff baseball last night, as they arrived to their tragic number of 0.  Here's how the rest of the season will pan out: Remaining Schedule: Phillies at Marlins   Saturday, September 29: Roy Halladay (10-8, 4.40 ERA) vs. Ricky Nolasco (12-12, 4.35 ERA) Sunday, September 30: Cole Hamels (16-6, 3.11 ERA) vs. Nathan Eovaldi...

Marlins 2, Phillies 1

Carlos Lee's game-winning single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Miami Marlins to a 2-1 win over Philadelphia and eliminated the Phillies from playoff contention Friday night. The Phillies overcame a horrible first half and came from way behind to get within three games of St. Louis for the second wild card spot. But they lost five of the next six to fall out of...

Phils Drop Third Straightl; Lose, 2-1.

Final: Phillies 1, Marlins 2. WP: Steve Cishek (5-2, 2.77 ERA)  LP: Josh Lindblom (3-4, 3.34 ERA) A September game consisting of two non-contending teams definitely will draw minimal interest from the media and the respective city's fans.  Both teams tonight, with nothing to play far, hardly brought anything to the table. The Phillies were trailing 1-0 heading into the...

Marlins Officially Eliminated the Phillies From Playoffs on a Walk-off Hit

This will be a short and sweet recap. Cliff Lee gave up a homerun to Giancarlo Stanton as the Marlins take 1-0 lead. It was the only run allowed by Lee. He allowed just three hits, no walks and a run over seven innings. Meanwhile, the Phillies scored a run in the eighth as Jimmy Rollins singled in John Mayberry Jr to tie the game, 1-1.  Carlos Lee’s single scored Bryan Peterson...

Left-field, the Phillies have got that covered

Ruf’s first major league home run against the Washington Nationals, a glimpse at the future? The power that was shown by Ruf in fisting the ball out of the park, the added power we need next season. Whether or not Ruf will be that guy should be decided during the winter. Winter ball for Ruf will turn him into the new better Pat Burrell. Better because Ruf is a hitter, fighting...
