Roy Halladay of the Philadelphia Phillies is the cream of the NL East.  What starter on the Braves also goes deep into games frequently?  The Apocalyptic Horsemen Stats are in my daily coverage.

I am alternating a game-day 2012 ERA For The NL East and a 2012 ERA For The MLB 5. See link section below. In each publication, the number after the title will be based on the quantity of outcomes played by the Phillies.

Top Performance Tuesday: Ross Detwiler Delivers In The 6th Of 7 Scoreless Frames At Home Against The Mets

Tal’s Handy Stats will be delayed until the daily article’s feed is completed.

NOTE:  Only the stats for the Phillies include Wednesday’s game.

REASONING For The Stats:

These numbers are a glimpse over the pitching coach’s shoulder, because they warn of difficulty ahead. The rule of thumb is that the bullpen load should be no more than 33.3%, which is a 6-complete average per scheduled outing. That is why going a distance into the game is 6.1 frames or more, which is 70.4%. The added detail of 1 out per contest is 54 innings over the long summer’s course. This also shows the mound masters that give the relievers a well deserved night off, but there is a rust factor due to lack of backend chances. If there are any questions, please ask.

Philadelphia Phillies: 2012 ERA for the MLB 5 at game 91

Phils' Halladay looks like his old self

It's no coincidence that the Philadelphia Phillies' worst stretch of this disappointing season came at the same time that two-time Cy Young Award winner Roy Halladay was on the disabled list. The Phils went 14-27 after Halladay went on the DL with a right lat (shoulder) injury on May 29. They were the second worst team in baseball over that time period. Since Halladay threw...

Philadelphia Phillies storyline: Miracle stew or witches’ brew?

Even Roy Halladay encountered it before rejoining the Philadelphia Phillies.  What team did he face in Clearwater for his rehab outing? TAL’S HANDY CAPS WELCOME, NEWCOMERS: I will publish after every battle that is not washed out.  I will have many season-long highlights of puzzle pieces, especially important after drubbings and defeats.  If you were directed here by a feed...

In Doc’s Return, Phils Down Dodgers

The Phillies celebrated Roy Halladay’s return with a pitching-dominated 3-2 win over the Dodgers, befitting of the ace of aces. Roy Halladay was back on the mound (AP) DOC MAKES HIS RETURN - 42 days. 42 long days. While he was out, the Phillies went 15-27–the second worst winning percentage in baseball during that span. It was a long, dark road. But Roy Halladay finally returned...

The Doc Is In: The Phillies Win

After landing on the DL in late May, Roy Halladay has finally returned to the Phillies. And his comeback was just what the Doc ordered. Halladay was on a pitch count to play it safe last night against the Dodgers. And while it took him a few innings to settle in, he looked pretty good after that. Doc pitched 5 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and did not walk anyone. Early in the...

Phillies Look to Re-Create Former Magic With Roy Halladay, Old School Lineup Against Unknown Dodger

"WE LIKE ROY! WE LIKE ROY!" Download Actual audio of crowd's reaction.   That is what the Phillies fans are screaming tonight.  (Well, the ones that are able to stay up until 10:10 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time.)   Roy Halladay makes his much-anticipated return to the Phillies rotation tonight AND Kyle Kendrick is officially a member of the bullpen and a sizeable...

Phillies Continue Winning Streak with 3-2 Win Over Dodgers; Halladay Goes Five in First Appearance Back from DL

Roy Halladay made his return to baseball tonight after missing 42 days total with his latissimus dorsi strain. He did so against Stephen Fife, a 25-year-old making his major league debut for the sidelined Chad Billingsley.  Much like they've been doing more of recently, the Phillies scored first. Jimmy Rollins scored in the top of the first on a groundout from Chase Utley...

Phils beat Dodgers 3-2 on Pence's 2-run hit in 8th

Roy Halladay was back in the Philadelphia Phillies' rotation and kept his team in the game long enough for them to rally late and keep their winning streak alive. Halladay pitched five effective innings in his first start off the disabled list, Hunter Pence got him off the hook with a go-ahead, two-out single in the eighth inning, and the Phillies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers...

Phillies 3, Dodgers 2

Roy Halladay pitched five effective innings in his first start off the disabled list, Hunter Pence hit a go-ahead, two-out single in the eighth inning and the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-2 Tuesday night for their fourth straight victory. The Phillies loaded the bases in the eighth when Ronald Belisario (3-1) walked Chase Utley with two outs, then hit Ryan...

Dodgers skid continues despite strong start

LOS ANGELES -- It was supposed to be the night that made the struggling Philadelphia Phillies whole again -- Roy Halladay returning from the disabled list to take on the slumping Los Angeles Dodgers. After getting injured second baseman Chase Utley and first baseman Ryan Howard back from the DL in the past 12 days, one of the final puzzle pieces that would put the team's turnaround...

Howard homers, Halladay harbors hope

The Phillies won an ugly game last night, and there is no other way to describe it. Atrocious base-running and poor fielding have doomed the Phillies all season, but somehow they were able to escape the unfortunate outcome Monday night in Los Angeles, beating the Dodgers 3-2. First, the positives. Joe Blanton gave the Phillies eight innings and rarely gave up a big hit. The Dodgers...

Dodgers give up late runs in 4th straight loss

Votto, Bautista injured; Halladay, Sabathia return

Joey Votto needs knee surgery, and Jose Bautista is out with a wrist injury. Two of baseball's best hitters were sidelined in a matter of hours Monday, one night before a pair of top pitchers are slated to return to the mound. Roy Halladay and CC Sabathia are both set to come off the disabled list Tuesday - and the way things are shaping up this summer, pennant races all over...

Phillies at point where they could be buyers not sellers

With their fourth straight win, a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the latest news out of Phillies camp, they could be buyers, or do nothing, as the trade deadline approaches. Oh, there may be a small trade for a reliever, or a minor outfielder trade, but … It is reported in several Web sites that the Phillies have offered $130 million, six-year contract to Cole Hamels...
