Ruben Amaro Jr. strikes again!
According to Ken Rosenthal, the Philadelphia Phillies have reached an agreement with veteran reliever Mike Adams on a two-year deal worth $12 million. The deal also includes a vesting option for a third year.
Adams has been dominant in his career. The right-hander was great with the Texas Rangers in his two seasons there. He posted a 7-6 record with a 2.88 ERA. Last season was a down year for Adams, who was struggling with an injury. Despite having a 3.27 ERA in 2012, Adams' ERA was at 2.05 away from the launchpad that is Arlington Ballpark.
The Phillies have now filled three of their five off season needs. Up next: a power bat in the outfield.
