Cliff Lee selected the Philadelphia Phillies for another reason besides the ones he stated. Jonathan Papelbon felt the same way and Doc Halladay desired a trade here. What they notice and understand is normal to them, and they think everybody sees their obvious.

Centerpiece Update:  Philadelphia Phillies storyline: tomorrow’s guarantee

Jake Diekman Extinguishing The Blaze In The 9th

Mac broke down again and was restored. However, my submission may have been lost in the ether of time constraints and cutoff points. Since other outlets drew higher-than-usual numbers, that may have been the case. Plus, there was a lot of action and it was a day contest, which many probably missed.

When a professional ballplayer says he came here to win, he has 2 meanings. One is a good team but the other is the core of the franchise. The repeat performances in the postseason are due to those central characters. They are usually homegrown, like Mike Schmidt, Larry Bowa and Greg Luzinski. They also are here-during-the-bad-years stars:  Steve Carlton. These Phillies have in order of arrival:  Jimmy Rollins, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Cole Hamels. That’s why Doc, Cliff and Cinco Ocho desired this destination above the others.

WELCOME, NEWCOMERS:

I will publish after every battle that is not washed out. The Phillies finished last summer 42 games over .500, which equaled a year of many positives. I will have many season-long highlights of puzzle pieces, especially important after drubbings and defeats.

SPECIAL REQUEST:

If you were directed here by a feed and this review does not mention yesterday’s contest, please go to my author archives or Phillies page for my most recent coverage. (Early morning readers may arrive before the latest post.) Scroll down to Tal’s Handy Links at the bottom. Thank you.

The Hunter Tracks His Redemption Shot In The 10th

CAP-SIZE HINDSIGHT

Penthouse Occupancy for the 4-3 triumph:  4

The Crystal Champagne Toast is a salute to Hunter Pence.

Usually a boot is a reason for a lack of access to this area. That is unless you provide a walk-off victory with that blemish. Hunter went 3 for 5 with 2 bombs. Jake Diekman, Lee, and Brian Schneider joined him on the top floor.

The southpaw survived and thrived during the baptism of fire, punching out 3 hitters in 1.1 innings. The General fanned 10 over 8 sterling frames during his gem. Schneider put away a tater and 2 steaks during his 2 for 4 matinee.

Cliff Lee needed only the House Money of 2 unearned runs on a nonchalant error and the 2-run bomb by Schneider in the 2nd.

The Leather Warehouse featured a heads-up gloved deflection by J-Roll, while Freddy Galvis instinctively read the play for the force out at 2nd in the 3rd.

Cholley And Balking Bob Boil Over In The 8th

The White House opened its gates for the MLB debut of Diekman after a critical K to douse the 9th-inning fire.

The Fun House Of Mirrors opened with 27 outs left for the Phils. The leadoff double (Rollins) to right was missed by Carlos Lee, who then charged on the run into 1B ump Hunter Wendelstedt. Carlos got knocked to the ground, getting the lesser of the deal. His movement toward the blue was questionable. The distortion also reflected on Cholley Manuel’s face when HP umpire Bob Davidson inadvertently stepped in front of Schneider during a wild-pitch strikeout. Cholley was ejected before the beet-red argument that only had a few inches of daylight between their faces in the 8th. The entire episode had no bearing on the play.

The House Of Cards tumbled down without Papelbon to preserve Lee’s effort. Chad Qualls blew the save and needed the rookie to bail him out in the 9th.

The Kangeroo Courthouse found Qualls guilty of keeping Lee winless.

A House Call was directed due to Vance Worley’s shoulder soreness with an MRI in order. If those results are problematic, Joe Savery will be recalled, and be expected to arrive in time for tonight’s game.

Kyle Kendrick Works In Washington On May 4

PRECAP PITCH

Kyle Kendrick:

Again, he is the fill-in for 1 or more appearances.  He is 0-2, has a 6.43 ERA as a starter, but with a short window to prepare, he will be counted on for 5 or 6 frames.  Last time out he drew Stephen Strasburg and now he gets another obstacle.

Matt Garza:

His stats shout that he is a two, but, if he could harness his emotions, he would reach ace status.  He often pitches that way and is becoming more difficult with maturity.

MAC:

The program acronym is for Methodical Algorithmic Computerization or Mac.  That is the feed system that had dogged me an entire month, but it allows me now to probe for a compatible solution.  This only involves readers who were directed here from Fox Sports.  The links in this section were recently passed over by a computer’s judgment.  Does the national-and-all-major-sports machine understand Phillies commentary better than local fans?  I discovered that the buttons and lights objected the most to the storyline when I submitted only that part.  So, when the electrodes decide a Nitecap Insight isn’t to their liking, I’ll give my transferred readers a viewing opportunity the next day.  I’ll keep score of acceptable to rejected submissions, because I don’t want a large readership excluded or my time wasted.
