The Phillies have acquired Michael Young from the Rangers according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Young will receive $1.2MM in benefits in exchange for waiving his no-trade clause, but Nightengale adds that he told the Phillies he did not want an extension.
The Rangers will $10MM of the $16MM owed to Young next season.
In exchange, the Phillies will send Josh Lindblom and minor leaguer Lisalverto Bonilla to Texas.
Nice deal for the Phillies who get a quality third baseman for $6 million.

Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. spoke to reporters yesterday and confirmed that as a result of trading Vance Worley to obtain outfielder Ben Revere, he is keying in on a one or two low risk, high reward pitchers, while they await for an answer from the Rangers on Michael Young, whom they made a trade offer for.
