Found December 18, 2012 on Phillies Nation:
The Phillies have maintained interest in acquiring a right-handed, power-hitting outfield bat and Jon Heyman says that Vernon Wells is among their top targets. Heyman notes Cody Ross also remains on the Phillies’ radar. Analysis: Wells has been an absolute trainwreck for the Angles since they acquired him at the start of the 2011 season. His lines of .218/.248/.412 and .230/.279/.403 made him one of baseball’s worst part time players at one of its greatest overall costs. Wells is due $21 million each of the next two seasons. At this price, Ross looks like a clearance bin purchase.

Mock Manuel Press Conference

This is comedian Kennie Thomas' impersonation of a Charlie Manuel post game press conference. If you ask me, he's too articulate to pull off Fuqua.

Phillies Find Back-End Bargain In John Lannan

Kyle Kendrick is generally underrated in the realm of back-end starters, but the Phillies still came into the offseason seeking rotation depth behind Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, and Cole Hamels. That need grew even greater two weeks ago when the team used Vance Worley to acquire Ben Revere. With veteran back-end arms aplenty on the free agent market, Philadelphia managed to find a bargain...

The deal includes another $2.5M in bonuses, according to CBSSports.com. "Clearly we have a familiarity with John and his past performance and success in this division helps us add depth to our rotation," Phillies general manager Ruben...

MLB Rumors: Will Los Angeles Angels Trade Mark Trumbo For Ricky Nolasco?

The Los Angeles Angels currently have one two many outfielders after signing Josh Hamilton to a massive contract, and would love to move one of them for another starting pitcher who can immediately fit into the starting rotation. James Shields had been mentioned as a possibility before the Tampa Bay Rays fleeced the Kansas City Royals for top hitting prospect Wil Meyers, but that...

Angels giving 2 million to Hamilton's foundation

NEW YORK (AP) -- The Los Angeles Angels will pay 2 million directly to Josh Hamilton's charitable foundation under his 125 million contract. Under the five-year deal completed Saturday, the All-Star outfielder receives a 10 million signing bonus and salaries of 15 million in each of the next two seasons, 23 million in 2015 and 30 million apiece in 2016 and 2017. On each June...

Angels Clear Logjam, Land Jason Vargas

The acquisition of Josh Hamilton gave the Angels what they wanted, but it also left the Angels with a little problem: between Peter Bourjos, Mark Trumbo, and Kendrys Morales, they had too many good players for too few spots. This was, as they say, a nice problem to have, and the Angels also felt they had a need for another innings-eating starting pitcher. So in a move surprising...

How can the Angels protect the future of the ballclub?

With the recent monster signing of former Texas Ranger Josh Hamilton to a 5-year, $125 million  contract it's become obvious the Angels are in "win now" mode harder than they've ever been before. Harder than they were last year when they spent $300 million on Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson. The Hamilton signing is nothing but amazing for the Angels, in the short...

Phillies Interested in Angels' Vernon Wells

Oh how the Los Angeles Angels would love to be out from under the mistake they made with Vernon Wells.  The Angels acquired Wells in a trade in January of 2011.  Now, they wish they hadn't.  He is making far too much money for his level of productivity and he has been injured to boot.  However, the Angels may be able to part way with the veteran outfielder if the Philadelphia...

On Running, With Mike Trout and Jesus Montero

Prior to the 2012 regular season, Mike Trout and Jesus Montero would’ve been considered leading contenders for the American League Rookie of the Year Award. Both Trout and Montero were top prospects, and Trout was staring at some regular outfield playing time while Montero was looking to catch and hit designatedly in Seattle. Trout eventually won the award, turning in an all-time...

Weighing the Angels' trade options

If you are anything like me, well then, let me first say "sorry."  That must be really rough for you.  However, that means that I know that you have probably spent almost every waking second of the last few days feverishly scanning Twitter and sports news sites for information on the forthcoming trade the Angels are going to make. I mean, they've got to deal someone...

Jays going for it with the acquisition of R.A. Dickey

Perhaps aside from the Los Angeles Angels winning the Josh Hamilton sweepstakes the Toronto Blue Jays have without a doubt made the biggest splash in the MLB offseason. After raiding the Miami Marlins’ roster with the acquisitions of shortstop Jose Reyes and pitchers Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle the Jays made another significant move by [...]
