MLB Injury News:
Now that the Philadelphia Phillies have acquired third
baseman Michael Young from the Texas Rangers, their next targets will be a
setup man and outfielders, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
#Phillies get M. Young, as reported by @bnightengale, others. Next moves for Phils: Find a setup man, other OFers.

So far this offseason the Phillies have added a center
fielder, acquiring Ben Revere from the Minnesota Twins, and a third baseman in
Even after Revere, Philadelphia has another void in their
outfield. The club traded Shane Victorino and Hunter Pence last summer, leaving
them with unproven options penciled in at this point, including Darin Ruf, John
Mayberry Jr. and Domonic Brown. Philadelphia has been tied to basically every
available outfielder this offseason, including Josh Hamilton, Cody Ross and
Beyond closer Jonathan Papelbon, Philadelphia has several
questions when it comes to the back end of its bullpen. They’ve been in the
market for late-inning arms and nearly acquired Wilton Lopez from the Houston
Astros earlier this offseason.

Rangers fans are left this week pondering the mixed legacy of their now departed Michael Young. As a legacy member of that team, Young had produced far more positive moments for the Rangers than the other way around. But his contract--which is not his fault--combined with two episodes of whining at position changes despite that contract--which is his fault--led to a falloff of some...

Michael Young is the 2nd domino to fall for the Philadelphia Phillies. How will the remaining dollars be spent by Rube Amaro?

My articles are designed to represent a baseball-man’s thinking, the view from the dugout and the GM’s box. Most fans do not consider the budget, prospects on the radar, the stick-glove-or-power requirements...
The Phillies passing on some “overpaid” big name free agents have traded for Ben Revere, sending Vance Worley and Trevor May to the Twins. The Phils who are in dire need of offense and power will get little of either in acquiring Revere. Last season with the Twins Revere hit .294 ,stole 40 bases, and drove in a paltry 32 runs in 553 at bats. What makes the 24-year-old Revere...
A lot of Phillies fans are unimpressed with the Phillies two latest additions – CF Ben Revere and 3B Michael Young. While both players fill huge holes for the Phillies, many don’t think they are the type of impact players that can help the Phillies climb back into the NL East race that they coughed up last year.
Ben Revere, whom the Phillies acquired in a trade that sent Vance...
FOX Sports’ Jon Morosi reported on Sunday that the Phillies have signed free agent RHP Zach Miner to a minor league deal with an invitation to major league spring training.
Miner, 30, has not appeared in a big league game since 2009. After being sidelined with an elbow ailment, Miner underwent Tommy John Surgery and missed the entire 2010 season. Since then, the former Detroit...
The Phillies pulled off a solid yet risky deal last week to solve their centerfield dilemma but simultaneously created another area of need. By including Vance Worley in the Ben Revere trade the Phillies current rotation would feature Kyle Kendrick and likely one of Tyler Cloyd or Jonathan Pettibone behind The Big Three. That isn’t the most appetizing back-end of a rotation...

The Philadelphia Phillies have filled their hole at third base with Michael Young after the veteran has accepted a rumored trade to Philadelphia. The Texas Rangers will be paying $10 million of the $16 million owed to Young in 2013. Heading to the Rangers in return for Young are reliever Josh Lindblom and prospect Lisalverto Bonilla.
2012 was the worst season of Young's career...
The deal is done. After time to mull it over, Michael Young has accepted the trade to Philadelphia and will be the Phillies' starting third baseman. The cost: relief pitcher Josh Lindbloom and minor league pitcher Lisalberto Bonilla, reports CSNPhilly's Jim Salisbury. The Phillies acquired Lindblom at the trade deadline...
The Philadelphia Phillies announced Sunday that they acquired infielder Michael Young from the Texas Rangers for right-handed relief pitcher Josh Lindblom and minor league righty Lisalberto Bonilla. Young, who wants to play more regularly, dropped his no-trade clause to go to Philadelphia. The Phillies will pay $6 million of Young's $16 million salary for next year. Young...
Finally we will have resolution on the Michael Young situation. According to T.R. Sullivan, best-known by Phillies fans as the one who first reported that Cliff Lee had chosen to re-sign with the Phillies, the Phillies and Texas Rangers' trade for Rangers utility player Michael Young is "ready to go...
Ken Rosenthal reports that Jason Grilli is returning to the Pittsburgh Pirates on a two-year deal, pending a physical.

I assume this time it’s real, unlike last Thursday which was full of “he’s signing”, followed by Grilli denying each report. I only assume...
The Yankees may be able to sign OF Ichiro Suzuki very soon, filling a hole in RF. According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, a Major League source says that a deal will in fact happen, and that the Yankees are “all over him.” It’s no secret that Ichiro wants to remain a Yankee, so a deal would be expected soon as Christmas approaches.
Last year, Ichiro was rejuvenated in the...
